I almost missed the fact that this was my favorite republican, Alan Keyes. Good to see him still around and fired up.
But a good loud protest and in-your-face politicking is something the right mustn't refrain from if they want to have any chance of winning back the bully pulpit.
Why?IMO a handful of Catholics and non-Catholics on the far-right are attempting embarrass the President and one of our nation's most outstanding universities. As a Catholic, I find this shameful and embarrassing.
Why?
Because a handful of your fellow Catholics are exercising their inalienable rights?
Because a handful of your fellow Catholics are choosing to peaceably assemble to voice opposition to Dear Leader?
Because a handful of your fellow Catholics are rendering to God their faith and their devotion, and are rendering to Dear Leader (a most unseeming and pathetic Caesar) their scorn and their disdain?
Yeah, I can see why you'd be embarrassed--you're not out there with them.
This particular standing president (actually a slouching one) supports no restrictions on abortion, thus endorses what the Catholic Church considers a mortal sin, and thus would be barred from the Eucharist at a Catholic Mass. It's shamful, because people feel they have to protest rather than let students have their day of celebration where a standing president speaks.
It's shameful because they are protesting at the graduation where people have worked their asses off for their degrees.

It's shameful because these SELFISH protesters would rather protest than celebrate the graduates.
Noone is saying that these guys don't HAVE the right to protest, people are saying they should have CHOSEN NOT to protest on someone else's day.

I can understand why some Catholics would be upset about it.
If it were only non-Catholics, you'd have a point. As it is not, you don't.
Ah, the old shaming them into silence routine. Sad.
If Notre Dame didn't want political protests on their campus, they shouldn't have invited the President to speak, or any politician for that matter.
Like I said, those Catholics protesting are selfish.
Is there a selfishness exception in the 1st amendment I wasn't aware of?
Did not realize they were protesting the graduation. Thought they were protesting the presence of the abortion aficionado Dear Leader at the graduation.Like I said, those Catholics protesting are selfish protesting a graduation where it is about the students and not them.

Ahhh yes, how silly of me a graudation of students that worked hard for their degrees SHOULD have protesters at their gradudation.
Yeah, that's shaming them in silence. Gimme a break.
Were you conservatives this supportive of "freedom to protest" when it was Code Pink? I think not.
I disapproved of Code Pink's performance of protests and I disapprove of these Catholics.
But hey, you go on SUPPORTING protesting at a graduation.
You seem to have a hard time with words.
I said they SHOULDN'T protest the graduation, not that they CAN'T.
Those are two different words. I already have said they have the RIGHT to, I think they should have CHOSEN NOT TO.
Get it right.
You're the one trying to stop people from protesting, not me. So yes, you are trying to shame them into silence.
I understand the words perfectly well, I just don't like it that someone who disagrees with the protesters finds a paper thin reason why the protesters SHOULDN'T protest. The 1st amendment still applies, even when you don't like what's being said. Or when.
Do you understand the difference between the right to do something and supporting something? I think not.
Just because I don't believe someone SHOULD protest doesn't mean I think they don't have the right to.
Those supportive of the protests when it is about the STUDENTS and not them are SELFISH.
You can call that shaming into silence if you want, I call it for what it is, the protestors being selfish because that is the truth.
They can protest BEFORE, they can protest AFTER all they want and not be disrespectful. However, they CHOOSE to be selfish and do it on the graduation for OTHERS.
It's a GRADUATION, it is not a paper think excuse, it is about a day to celebrate the GRADUATES.
Again, you claim I don't think they have the right to protest and that is a DAMN LIE.
I NEVER said they don't have the RIGHT to protest so stop lying.
It seems YOU are the one that hates the 1st amendment for my RIGHT to say it is disrespectful.
They can protest when they like. You don't get to decide.
You don't want them to protest when they want, and use the graduation as an excuse to try to curtail their freedom to protest. I'm SURE it's not because you disagree with the protesters.
And you're being ridiculous. Since I'm not the government, there are no 1st amendment rights at play in this discussion. You should read more.
I never said I did. I said (due to my 1st amendment rights you hate so much) that I think it is disrespectful.
I hate the 1st amendment?? :rofl
I don't recall reading any of my posts where I said the protesters shouldn't protest. Now who was that...?
Yes, I don't WANT them to protest at a graduation, however, they have the RIGHT TO DO SO. I'm not FORCING them not to protest am I?
It is my 1st amendment right to say that I don't think they should.
And yet I am not government either so why did you play the 1st amendment card to me?
You need to stop drinking before posting, you are embarrassing yourself seriously.
LMAO! You can't make any headway with your foolish comments, so therefore I must be drunk.
