the OWS protesters pay income taxes & sales taxes. That funds the parks & the police. So don't go down that route.
Nonsense. In order to be paying taxes, they would have to be earning money, on which and out of which to pay those taxes, which would have to mean that they have jobs, and are working at these jobs instead of sh**ting on police cars are doing other OWS-type stuff.
and yes, I find the right to express grievances against the government is slightly more important than the right of Sally & Johnny to play ball with their puppy.
False dichotomy. They don't need to abuse public parks and similar resources, in order to express grievances. That's not what these parks are for. They certainly do not need to interfere with the ability of the 53% to get to and work at their own jobs, in order to express grievances.
You cavalierly dismissed their abuse of a public park, and the right of the public to enjoy that park for its intended purpose, by saying
“…Johnny & Sally can just go to another park.” Why should “Johnny and Sally” have to go to another park, just because a bunch of worthless deadbeats decided to take over the park that they wanted to use? More important, why should any of the 53% have to quit their jobs, and find other jobs, because these same deadbeats choose to interfere with their ability to get to their extant jobs?
As Will Rogers once said,
“Your right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins.” You're defending a violent, parasitic mob who insists on being able to swing their fists wherever and whenever they want, without regard for wherever anyone else's nose may be.
I note that the language in the First Amendment affirming the right to assemble specifically limits that right to doing so “peaceably”. The OWS vermin have done their thing in anything but a peaceable manner, and have, in fact, very clearly expressed their intent to not do so peaceably. The right of these vermin to act unpeaceably does not trump the right of the rest of the public to go about their business peaceably.
