that's not by percentage, that's total number of children in poverty.
Aren't statistics wonderful?

I'm sorry the 1% do a very poor job of being sympathetic.
Most of America’s rich think the poor have it easy - The Washington Post
Most of America's richest think poor people have it easy in this country, according to a new report released by the Pew Research Center. The center surveyed a nationally representative group of people this past fall, and found that the majority of the country's most financially secure citizens (54 percent at the very top, and 57 percent just below) believe the "poor have it easy because they can get government benefits without doing anything in return." America's least financially secure, meanwhile, vehemently disagree — nearly 70 percent say the poor have hard lives because the benefits "don't go far enough." Nationally, the population is almost evenly split.

Basically hit bottom fast and harder with a quicker recovery? Is that correct? No, the difference is Keynesian economic policies that have bloated our money supply, artificially propped up the stock market, and prolonged the recovery.
I suggested inspecting the system in which these poverty levels arise.
My apologies- From what I have read many temps are on a flex schedule which changes quickly. From day to day these can change. Then notified they are on call, and not called in. A number of people with PT employment have more that 1 PT job.
I believe Congress is in the process of changing full time as defined by hr to 30. From what i recall it is around 40 now.

QE has not worked. From what i understand a shortage of-highly skilled / highly educated candidates for a variety of jobs exists in many areas of the US.
In past recessions, gong by memory on what I read, certain areas of the US fared better than others, people moved to where there was work???
Companies do not see growth and are sitting on their money as they are not confident of a recovery so do not expand.
actually the top one percent give billions to charity. of course to people who are envious of the rich or blame the rich for their own failures, nothing is going to convince them otherwise

Does not every country have that same problem, yet as you say we have 1 in 3 children living in poverty.
Americans are predators. Like a rattlesnake, it's not worthwhile to complain about the snakes's poison. You merely avoid stepping on it. It's an unreasonable animal. You are right that liberals who complain about the rich are like someone complaining about a poisonous snake and letting it bite them rather than just accepting that its a wild animal and jumping out of the way. Americans follow rules of predation and cannot be bothered to change themselves anymore than a pack of wolves. I think of libertarians as a pack of wolves in fact. Poor people in other lands who have been abused by American foreign policy understand this best, the USA is the USA, it's not something to argue with.
I found your statement was one sided and didn't acknowledge that the rich give less as a percentage of their income than the other income levels.that really doesn't tell the whole story
if you give a million and you make 100 million you still give more than a guy who makes 20K an gives 1000 even thug he gives five percent and you give one percent
your graph in no way disputes what I said. and it doesn't delineate the top one percent but rather than each quintile
My goal is for everyone to appreciate the benefits of a system that offers greater opportunity. Is that your goal for the rich to say to the poor "poor baby"?
Which of those households is more greatly impacted by that charitable giving? The one that lives below the poverty level or the one that's comfortably middle class?4.3% of $10,531 is $452.83
2.1% of $158,888 is $3336.65
Jus sayin.....

Or because the poor live close enough to poverty to actually recognize how difficult it can be to overcome rather than simply blaming the victims.Kinda explains why one guy is rich, and the other guy is poor. People don't get rich by being foolish with thier money. If I was only making 10k, I'd probably not be giving any of it away, especially because I'm probably taking handouts.

And this is legal? Oh. My. God!
