He has created wealth for some, has provided jobs for others, and did a bang up job running the Olympic Games
That did a lot for the nation-far more than most
Mitt Romney is attempting to establish himself as the Republican presidential candidate with the most credibility on job creation, but the former Massachusetts governor may have trouble defending his record. During Romney's tenure as governor, Massachusetts' job growth was bested by every state in the nation except three, including Hurricane Katrina-devastated Louisiana. As CEO of Bain Capital, Romney profited as five of the companies under his firm's direction went bankrupt, and thousands of workers lost their jobs. One particularly brutal round of firings came back to haunt Romney during his failed 1994 Senate campaign, when laid-off workers protested his candidacy.
No one disputes that, in the end, the 2002 Winter Games were a brilliant success. But some argue that Utah's deep tradition of volunteerism, widespread support for the Olympic bid in the state and in the Mormon Church, and the global outpouring of goodwill -- and cash -- that followed the tragedy of the 9/11 terror attacks deserve much of the credit.
"Any well trained chimpanzee could have come in and had a successful Olympics," said Doug Foxley, a Salt Lake City lobbyist and former adviser to Romney's presidential rival Jon Huntsman, Jr.
Ken Bullock and other critics are driven to distraction by Romney's claim that he saved the games. But at the time he took little credit for himself, letting others cast him as the savior.
Nevertheless, Romney took a very public role in shaping the narrative of games -- from scandal to success. When Romney was brought in, he was pushed in front of the cameras, and he remained there. Bullock in particular felt that Romney controlled the story. "No one could have a difference of opinion," Bullock said.
Shrub never served, Poppy got him a cushy spot in TX.
RayGun never served, just made movies.
Neither of them left US.
Only true statement there is neither of them left the US.
Both served. As in were part of the military armed forces of the US. How about you shove the borderline inflammatory statements where the sun dont shine.
The fact that the Romneys don't serve in the military confirms the long tradition of the rich elite keeping their young from harms way while other young men are deemed expendable.
This goes back to the days of the college deferments which allowed the upper class an avenue to avoid the draft. It was felt that a young man working construction or farming was far more expendable than the young man studying sociology in college.
Oh but am certain the apologists will want to point out that the Romneys have served their country too. And am certain the Romneys have sacrificed much as the parents of Vietnam Veterans.
So you don't have a problem with people who don't or can't serve ... unless you think it's because they're rich and elite. Oh well, so much for consistency.
you can take it anyway you like, that's your perogative.
You can thank a vet for having that freedom of opinion.

Just a joke, but Obama has released proof of his citizenship, so the joke seems to be on this kid.
Mitt Romney should release his tax returns.

Oh yeah. You have to love the "Oh, I was just kidding!" excuse. As if he didn't know precisely what he was doing? really?
Mitt could have the DSC, the Silver Star and the CMOH and I doubt Top Cat would vote for himSo, is Mitt running for president. Or Mitt's kid?
Tell you what...if it makes you feel better, don't vote for Matt.

He doesn't have to release his tax returns, but then people don't need to vote for him either.why............?Just a joke, but Obama has released proof of his citizenship, so the joke seems to be on this kid.

We will see....
That's correct, I won't vote for him. There are millions of voters and I suspect many will want to know what he's hiding. I would bet you that if President Obama didn't release his tax return, the Right Wing would make it an issue.what is your point, you wouldn't vote for him no matter what he did.
