Is shutting down the federal government an advantage?

Every notice when the governmetn workers have a paid holiday not afforded to the private sector, how light the traffic is, just think of the money, gas etc we are saving.
Proof go take a drive on a Governmet paid holiday, my proof is that it takes 1.45 hours to drive 26 miles on a regular day, on the days the governmet has one of it's hack holidays it takes 25 minutes. This would be Exit 43 to Exit 25 on I-95 in Boston.I'd like some proof to back that up please?
@ the OP: Unless you want to go to the National Park, then a federal shutdown means nothing.
My family would have very little income if the government shut down, so it's not a good thing for me, and I don't see how it could be an advantage to anyone in general.
I don't care which side gets political points. I want the government shut down for at least two months. I can think of nothing better for the average working taxpayers of America.
Shut it down!
Oh, how sad...............................not.
Tell your family to get off their dead asses and go get a job. Please don't tell me there are none. Make up one then. But stop crying about it.

Not here in new england on the east coast, such as evacutation day, patriots day, columbus day etc. These government paid holidays you speak of are also honored by the financial industry and other economic sectors not just government. Schools being closed means students aren't traveling to classes. People aren't traveling to the DMV and passport offices, etc. Your ‘proof’ doesn't prove anything.
I don't even get a social security check. We get two social security checks, one is for my retired grandparent, and the other is for my disabled parent, so before you look anymore like a fool, don't be so judgmental.

BTW I drive for a living and 110,000 plus miles per year depending, interstate driving (regional) for 25 years now..
Sounds like a fine idea and believe me it has been proposed and is now tied up in the courts, you see those who are suing are probably those who sit in the traffic. The suit brought forth are done by the surrounding towns, the residents have their numerous reasons but non the less this will not happen for decades. Of course there is a easy way, just lay off all the government workersSounds to me like we need to invest in more and better public transportation to alleviate the traffic congestion.

LOL..you do make a good point here, but as long as they go northbound and not south..it would be fine with meYeah, because it not like instead all those government workers will just find private employment and instead of them clogging up the roads to get to their government job they'll just be clogging up the roads to get to their private sector job.
