No fan of Hillary, but she got 3 million more votes than Trump did, so... Nope, you're stating a falsehood here. That's true in the needed states, this happened, but this isn't true of the general election.

so what. most of the congressional districts voted for Trump. most property owners voted for Trump. I am glad we don't have a pure democracy and the lowest common denominator rules.

My daughter started a $250 mm business in San Fran loves it. No mention of the decrepit confederate states who take more fed money than they put in? Strange how it's always Detroit and Chicago, well behind confederate cities in murder rates. Look it up

It's possible to hold more than one reason in your brain ms patriot. Hill lost because she was dumb on the server, the brilliant keeping on about emails (still no evidence of harm to the country), and the brilliant timing of the FBI disclosure. And the perennial hill hating by non college white boys and girls

you forget Hillary's sense of entitlement, the fact that all of her "accomplishments" was due to her being married to a popular former president, and that she had the charisma of an anal wart

what scares me is that hillary is thinking about running again in 2020
what worries me more is that the democratic hierarchy might support such a(nother) boondoggle

Neither side ever learns.

1 Oh please get off your high horse....read the Constitution and the separation of Church and State clause.

2 But thank the power to be it isn't a progressive union that Democrats want or we would be in the same shape as Socialist Venezuela.

1 So, you really don't think the evangelicals would institute a theocracy if they were really 80% of the population?

2. What does that have to do with separation of church and state? Anyway, Democrats haven't attempted to institute a socialistic economy such as they have in Venezuela. The furthest left Democrats favor something more like what they have in Scandinavia, which is very different

Surely the Democratic voters learned their lesson last time around, haven't they?

OMG that would be funny. she aged about 5 years in the last six months of the campaign, she will be like Bob Dole selling Viagra

Hillary is done for. Even though much of the left doesn't want to admit the reason for their horrible loss, deep down inside they know it was 90% Hillary, just like this poll shows. Democrats could have fielded Homer Simpson as a nominee and beaten Trump.

Oh, I wouldn't worry. She's going to be 4 years older, and 4 years more easily tired. She barely made this campaign, next one is going to be harder.

I rather doubt that she'll run.

one of the few times i've hoped you were correct in your predictions

The extremist left and Bernie pulled the Dems left. It's going to be awhile before they figure out that this is what loses them elections.
They aren't going to be back to a more politically center position for 2018 nor for 2020. They are going to stay out left.
Hillary never had very good traction with the left especially not the extremist left.

I'm telling you, she isn't going to run. I'd rather doubt that she'd get the votes even the primary.

Hillary lost the election because of three words: "basket of deplorables".

People will only put up with so much condescension and elitism.

Hillary was right, except for one thing -- she underestimated the proportion.

Why did you take that personally?

I see Kobie and Cardinal rushed to underline my point. Thank you, "gentlemen". You both must be touch-typists, as it would be impossible to see the keyboard with your noses that far in the air.

Homer Simpson... Donald Trump... Hey, the resemblance is uncanny!

The GOP hasn't figured out that the same thing, the extremist religious right, is what costs them elections, that's why the majority of idiots in their latest primary clown car were trying to out-God each other, instead of debating the actual issues anyone cares about. Both parties have been moving to the extremes for years, there are no worthwhile moderate parties in this country.

That's fair. A mell of a hess we seem to have here on that count.

Air quoting?

Here was the other basket Clinton spoke about:

"But the other basket -- and I know this because I see friends from all over America here -- I see friends from Florida and Georgia and South Carolina and Texas -- as well as, you know, New York and California -- but that other basket of people are people who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures, and they're just desperate for change. It doesn't really even matter where it comes from. They don't buy everything he says, but he seems to hold out some hope that their lives will be different. They won't wake up and see their jobs disappear, lose a kid to heroin, feel like they're in a dead-end. Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well."

Did you not put yourself into this basket? If not, why not?

That's fair. A mell of a hess we seem to have here on that count.

But neither party has any interest in hearing that what they're doing is wrong. The Republicans send out surveys to their membership after every election loss, asking what they did wrong. I assume the Democrats do the same thing. But no matter what gets said, they just double down on the same things that cost them the election and are really surprised when they lose again and again. Now we're seeing the Democrats doing the same thing. They're pointing fingers at everyone but themselves. They will never admit that Hillary was just a bad candidate. They will never admit that their platform sucks. It's got to be something else. It can never be their fault.

Your apprehension is certainly shared even in terms of an equivalent seizing the nomination, such as pharma-corporatist pseudo-progressive Cory Booker, who voted against Canadian drug imports to alleviate runaway US drug prices on the obviously bull**** basis that they might be dangerous and 'fail to meet FDA standards', and is being touted as a 'rising star' in the party and a prime carrier of Dem establishment ambitions going into 2020. Not quite as unpalatable as Hillary, but still a definite liability.

The Clintonite corporatist neoliberal/third way is dead; it lost in every way it is possible to lose in 2016 and it should be consigned to the dustbin of history where it belongs.
