The failure and utter corruption of the media is another gushing hole in the dam of democratic institutions. And that ain't water leaking through, its fascism -- which can only exist in the wake of such failures. That ain't hyperbole. That's a fact. When the institutions designed to protect and inform the public, and hold the powerful accountable, engage in this level of malicious war-propaganda, it doesn't bode well for democracy. There is no accountability except that which is forced upon them. The New York Times was supposed to be the Gold Standard.

Ah, yes, reminds me of that time that @Dans La Lune demanded "proof" of Bucha rapes and murders. You know, to show he doubts all victims of mass evil equally.

Or....is the demand driven purely by which target it implicitly attacks: Israel, which coincidentally is primarily populated by....?

______

There's a mountain of eyewitness accounts, even videos any number of lawmakers watched. Mass rape, mass sexual crime, nails driven into genitals, breasts torn off.

I'm not going to waste my time listening to a lame 15 minute YouTube video. Who gives a rats as about the demands of 60 Journalist Professors? There are more than 2600 JP's who are part of the Journalism Education Association and no telling how many that aren't.

What do you want to bet they have more than a "journalist" issue? PLEASE!!!!!

"I demand that you immediately provide me more evidence to ignore."

Between this and the claims that the IDF having killed some Israeli citizens in the midst of all this fighting, are we going to start hearing claims from the anti-American Hegemony hard-left that October 7th was just a massive false flag operation conducted by the Israeli government?

Is there a link to the NYT article?

The New York Times was supposed to be the Gold Standard.
That standard has been tarnished since that case in 2006.

An African American female "dancer" accused three Caucasian college athletes of rape.

The Times immediately took the side of the "dancer."

After all, a dear sweet African American young lady would never fib!!!

Of course, it turned out she was a fibber, and the district attorney was so prejudiced against the boys that he was sent to jail for a nominal one day.

(P.S.: In recent years, that "dancer" was charged with murder in some other case.)

The Times is a stinking rag.

I think this is the article referred to, but I'm not sure.

‘Screams Without Words’: How Hamas Weaponized Sexual Violence on Oct. 7

No pay wall.

Your intellectual curiosity regarding one of the prime motivators of genocide is pretty impressive. But yes, I'm sure it's antisemitism.

Well, according to the IDF itself, they did. And according to Israeli survivors. Must be antisemitism!

are we going to start hearing claims from the anti-American Hegemony hard-left that October 7th was just a massive false flag operation conducted by the Israeli government?

Well, I never claimed that. It was a massive failure by the IDF and the Israeli government. They were too busy aiding in the slaughter of non-Hamas Palestinians in the West Bank to pay attention to a legit security threat on the Gaza border.

That this attempt to obfuscate the issues with smoke clouds isn't really fooling anyone but people aligned with your viewpoint, who have largely lost the argument on all fronts.

The NYT rehired a guy they fired who praised Hitler, it seems.

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The New York Times is once again being criticized for bringing back one of their former employees to cover the Israel-Hamas war.

Soliman Hijjy, a Palestinian filmmaker who once worked for the New York Times, posted an online Hitler photograph and praised him on Facebook, New York Post reports.

He shared the said post originally in 2018 which went viral in 2022. One of Hijjy’s captions read, "In a state of harmony as Hitler was during the Holocaust” as per a translation from Arabic by pro-Israel media watchdog site HonestReporting. ..

New York Times defends its move to rehire Soliman Hijjy

Meanwhile, the New York Times has defended its decision to bring back Hijjy. “We reviewed problematic social media posts by Mr Hijjy when they first came to light in 2022 and took a variety of actions to ensure he understood our concerns and could adhere to our standards if he wished to do freelance work for us in the future,” a spokesperson for NYT said.

Unfortunately, I can't take this at face value, due to the pro-Israeli tendency to lie about literally everything. The fact that all of the usual suspects (e.g. Bari Weiss) are up-in-arms about it makes me very suspicious, and that even the pro-Israeli NYT hired him seems to confirm that there's more here than meets the eye.

One of the most respected and respectable voices in independent media, Marc Lamont Hill was fired from CNN merely by saying, 'From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free..."

The weaponization of antisemitism is very detrimental to Jews. But for the right-wing Israeli government, it's liquid gold. Or at least it was. Now the Palestinian narrative has broken through, these attacks are seen for what they are in most cases.

Yeah, okay! 27 years, long past time to take out the trash. Selective memory.

I suspect that Oct 7 had a better military to civilian death ratio than what Israel has done since.

Especially if you count every male 16 and older as a combatant the way Israel does.

Except the guy who wrote for the NYT posted it on his own Twitter.
And he is a writer for the NYT, you can check his name on there for yourself.

You can consult Twitter archive and check the facts for yourself if you like.

You don't have to believe me - check for yourself and find out, you can accuse me of being pro-Israeli all you want. Look at the other topics - most want to call me a Hamas lover on the other side, or a Trump lover, or a Liberal Biden lover etc etc etc because I sometimes disagree with their perspective on different topics. That's how it goes. I actually love all of them - Biden, Trump AND Hamas AND Netanyahu and Iran and Kim Jong Un too - also a big lover of Pol Pot. Great guy!

<shrugs>

I've checked independently and know the story is true. You can dislike the source I linked all you want, I dislike it too, but I don't approve of antisemitism in any way shape or form I'm afraid.

What do the random spam links have to do with anything?

More like somebody screwed up. It happens.

Who? The guys rehiring him? They came out with a broad defense of rehiring him so they knew what they were doing.
