During an interview with “Task and Purpose,” the 45-year-old actor said it’s time for Hollywood to keep quiet when it comes to Donald Trump.

“A lot of celebrities did, do, and shouldn’t,” Wahlberg said when asked about celebrities who denounced the president-elect before the election. “You know, it just goes to show you that people aren’t listening to that anyway.”

“They might buy your CD or watch your movie, but you don’t put food on their table,” he said. “You don’t pay their bills. A lot of Hollywood is living in a bubble. They’re pretty out of touch with the common person, the everyday guy out there providing for their family.”

“Me, I’m very aware of the real world. I come from the real world and I exist in the real world. And although I can navigate Hollywood and I love the business and the opportunities it’s afforded me, I also understand what it’s like not to have all that.”

Mark Wahlberg: It’s Time For Hollywood To Shut Up About Politics

Amen. :applaud

Yes and No.

If Leonard who works at Sears in the men clothing got in front of the tv camera to talk about his views not too many are going to pay attention.

But if Jim Arnest from Gunsmoke ( my time period) got up to give his view even I would listen.

As far as the statement that these celebs being out of touch with the common person is in turn kind of funny that you are also talking about the two candidates most out of touch with the common person.....lol

"I come from the real world and I exist in the real world."

This statement is certainly a red flag for mental illness.

Amen. :applaud

I like mark e mark even more now. Too bad the Hollywood dumbasses that live in their bubble won't listen to him lol.

Walberg has just as much of a right to speak out about Hollywood as Hollywood does speaking out about politics. Good on him.

All the regular guys where Wahlberg grew up committed lots of hate crimes. Walhberg is just an "everyday guy".
Sounds like a typical Trump supporter, and it sure does look like the Trump Cult on this board agrees!

Maybe he could be on the Trump cabinet?

Wahlberg did terrible things when he was younger. He spent only 45 days in prison, but this experience clued him in. Long ago.

The "typical Trump supporter" is not a convicted felon.

So, first he has a big problem with Hollywood-types giving their opinion about politics...as he states in his opinion about politics. *cough*hypocrite*cough*

And he is saying that he is in touch with the common man.

Riiiiiiiight.

Maybe he was long, LONG ago. But he has not been in touch with the common man for about two decades.

I don't give a **** what Hollywood stars say about politics. But I am not about to tell them not to exercise their right to free speech. It's one thing to disagree with what they say - it's another entirely to try and shut them up.

Yeah. No ****. That's my point about Wahlberg's quotes, and the fact that Trump supporters are embracing him.
At the very least, it's an optics problem. Why does the Cult continue to embrace those with documented histories of racism?

Maybe they're embracing him because what he says makes sense and resonates with them. I don't know why most people would have a problem with someone who long ago committed violent deeds but has since turned his life around and has built a good, decent life for himself and his family.

but if those hollywood elites spewed stuff you agreed with you wouldn't be whining.

Hmm... maybe you haven't taken an objective look at the society you live in? That's my only guess.

Are you aware that convicted felons lose their right to vote permanently in ten states?
Are you out there working to restore their rights, or do you only lament the plight of celebrities with racist pasts who get criticized for their actions?

There are lots of people (the "common person" and "everyday man" included) just waiting for you to come to their defense, so that they can have their civil rights restored.

Actually, it's James Arness. ;)

I haven't lamented over Wahlberg, You seem to think that presenting a contrarian view to yours deserves stupid, irrelevant questions such as whether I'm "out there" working to restore convicted felons' rights.

The poor convicted felons.

I'm responding directly to the comment you made. Go back and read it again.

"I don't know why most people would have a problem with someone who long ago committed violent deeds but has since turned his life around and has built a good, decent life for himself and his family."

It's not their fault. It's ours. So long as people lap up everything famous people say, we provide them an audience. Want them to stop weighting in on things? Stop listening. Stop watching E news, or people magazine, and all the their media devoted to our fame obsession.

This statement is certainly a red flag for mental illness.

Seriously!? Are you really suggestion that he has a mental illness because he is saying he knows what it's like to live in a household as a young child where his family lived pay check to pay check in a tough working poor neighbor in Boston?

I really love the folks who people our intelligencia.

Here are 23 who promised to leave the country if Trump was elected.

They promised to move to locations outside the country that range from Brooklyn to Jupiter.

Celebrities! Is there anything they don't know?

Amen. :applaud

Fundamentally it's kinda hard to take a Celebutard from Hollweird who lives and works in the land of make believe seriously about their opinions on reality (from which they've been largely removed), be it politics or something else.

You're right.

Silencing opposition opinion is the job of Liberals. Conservatives just need to shut up and let them work!

Do you have a link for Wahlberg's racism?

So when they say stuff you agree with, you say the same thing?

Whatever any of them say, it's no more and no less than one person's opinion.

Everyone should stop treating it as more than just that.
