Damn, I was just in Texas, I wish I had run into him. I could have put on black face makeup, and bought some skittles and Iced Tea to get an awesome picture.
 
It's not that the state didn't have enough evidence, its that the state didn't have any evidence.

The verdict was not guilty, but the court trial proved him innocent.

The court trial did not have to prove him innocent. He is presumed innocent, as he was not proven guilty.
 
I think he got away with stuff, but you're right, regardless of what anyone thinks, he was found not guilty and he has a right to carry a gun. I predict that he will be arrested one day and may even do some time in the future ... but for now, leave the guy alone ...
