Smithsonian wants Martin's hoodie

I wish I had it. I'd put it up on Ebay and make a fortune.

I wonder if the blood could be arranged into a picture of Jesus or the Virgin Mary? That should raise the price some.
Don't forget the cross of Skittles.

Why, they could declare it's worth $10,000,000, donate and never pay taxes again...

No, wait, they don't pay taxes anyway.

And a photo of the back of Zimmerman's head with a section of the concrete. That the Smithsonian wants just the hoodie is race-baiting. Personally I think 90% of what the Smithsonian has should be sold off. Why the hell do they have the Hope Diamond? It doesn't even have a USA historical significance.

What does Martin's hoodie have to do with racism?

What does Martin's hoodie have to do with racism?

Nothing at all by itself. But the Trayvon Martin case, which the hoodie represents, created a nationwide discussion of racism for over a year. It's a significant event, and if they are going to have an African American History museum, it makes sense to have it.

A white kid dressed the same way would probably still be alive today.

It is important to remember that NO ONE was pressing for charges against Zimmerman when it was believed he was white. It was ONLY when it became presented he was Latino that African-Americans and white people like you started making every possible condemnation, furiously demanding he be put in prison, and telling every lie and smear against the Latino people such as your messages can attack the Latino with.

That is as racist a statement as it gets and a fundamental lie.

Zimmerman has a black business partner, too an African-American girl to prom, circulated a petition on behalf of a black man beat up by a white man, raised money for an African-American church and has African-American friends and relatives.

I see your messages as rank personal hatred of Latinos. Prove you have been more involved with Latinos in your life MORE than Zimmerman has been with African-Americans. If you can't, then the question to you is obvious.

WHY DO YOU HATE LATINOS SO MUCH IN YOUR MESSAGES? What did Latinos ever do to you?

It also raised a national debate on self defense and gun control. So why no section of the sidewalk?

You overreact. Where I live I couldn't throw a rock without hitting one. A black kid however, not so much. The cops are wary of blacks, and so was Zimmerman, the pretend cop who killed a kid he should have left alone.

They're putting something in for the African American History Museum. Gun control and self defense aren't really a part of that. I wouldn't mind if they took something from the case and put it in one of their other museums to talk about the effect the case had on self defense and gun control discussion though.

White people are shot by black people every single day. Get over yourself. You arbitrarily picked a shooting and decided to get all offended and racial.
Yes they are. Racism is alive and well. I'm only calling a spade a spade.

I am beginning to get the impression that in the minds of people who shriek out "race baiting" every time the problem is pointed out are doing so simply are not ready to look at themselves. If there are legitimate cases of racism but every time someone points it out they are race baiting....what are we to do?

But what happened to Trayvon Martin had nothing to do with race.

Does the Smithsonian have Monica Lewinsky's dress too?

No, you and the others are overreacting about something that happens every single day. You're making a big deal about this one case while completely ignoring all of the others. What about the dozens of black on black murders every day happening in the hood? Why don't we focus on reducing that violence instead of blowing up for 12 months over one single case.

There is zero benefit to the American people or mankind in general from fixating on one case this long.

Yes, stains and all.

Yea, of course it is not a big deal. Just another dead black kid.

Every death is a tragedy, but when you ignore the dozens of dead black kids every day and hone in on one case and harp about it for months and months, it's not because you care, it's because you're trying to fuel race hatred.

But hey, by all means, feel free to explain how crying about the Zimmerman case this long instead of worrying about street violence in general helps our society.

Zimmerman is a footnote. Just not soon enough.

What's left of his life will probably be as big a mess as this tragedy.
