Want to know why people are nutz about the way Zimmerman's been treated....

Because some people think it's a good time to about issues surrounding the case. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

I want to know why all of these people are coming out of the woodwork to talk about this trial AFTER the trial is over. Where were they when it was happening? Makes me think most of them didn't watch it at all and are only parroting what analysts are telling them.

We need to stop joking about the "little angel" trayvon. I get that you were joking and it was sarcasm but we know he was a wannabe thug and society needs to know he was a wannabe thug; that is how he should be described and remembered for all time.

My Dadlives in the Houston area and we keep up with goings on around the state.

Can't say I remember this case and it's seems to have dropped off the radar screen shortly after charges were filed.

Here's a bit more: Houston Suspect May Be Serial Killer

But you're right, let's hear more about that little angel Trayvon??

Nobody should be against discussing race issues, and what caused people of all races to get involved or show support for Trayvon and concern of profiling. Let's stop calling people race baiters, racist, etc. and start having a real discussion in this country.

Granted some people are incapable of it, some people are actual racists and can'tstop, but they don't run the whole country. There are good people with legitimate concerns on both sides. Neither side is automatically racist.

My point is that racism has nothing to do with what happened between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin. It is a figment of the imagination in the minds of race baiters that it does. And my point is that THAT is the reason some of us are so fervent in our belief that racism is alive and well in the United States today. And its new name is Jesse Jackson...Al Sharpton...and others who insist that it exists in this case.

M is a thug like Z is a racist.

You should be ashamed.

Gun control.

It's goes much deeper than that Josie... it's political opportunism...

The left is distorting everything about the incident to divide the nation, advance the progresive agenda, and expand their political power.

You know much of that reparations and government program stuff came from MLK, right? That's why I questioned before if people would call him a race baiter today.

I have often wondered about that myself. It seems to be somewhere in between having blacks be declared some sort of endangered species, or protected class, that must have habitat set aside for them and an outright demand for reparations for past wrongs. Mixed into that is the gun control crowd, prison/judicial "reform" crowd and those that wish for more special gov't programs that benefit only blacks to "undo" the affects of growing up in the lawless zones (tribal lands?) of major US cities.

Again, sad that this is how people want to look at the issue. Because both sides have good people with legitimate concerns. Your own attitude is divisive.

I don't feel racially divided, cut off, or separated because of actions on either side. I really don't. It kind of shocks be to hear so many people.are upset and took offensive because many minorities had concern for their own children, profiling, and questioned SYG.

I mainly avoided this forum until the trial began because I didn't see the point. All that was ever going to matter was what the witnesses testified to in court.

This case, in my opinion, is a proxy. An opportunity already seized by the "usual suspects," and it's sad that they are making the case about vracism when it wasn't.

Yes and no, MLK wanted all sorts of changes, including many that were clearly unconstitutional and unworkable, but MLK was also non-violent and quite pragmatic about what could realistically be done, thus his famous "I have a dream" speech. Under the 14th amendment it is not possible to implement purely race based remedies.

Consider a person, e.g. Obama, that has absolutely no linkage to US slavery at all, is extremely wealthy and has had every conceivable advantage in his educational and professional life - does he deserve reparations simply because he has dark skin and can "vividly recall" racialsm directed toward him by some anonymous private citizens? Then consider a non-black immigrant or their offspring, say from Mexico or Russia should they be "punished" for the sins of others, decades, or even centuries, before they ever came to the US? What about those who lost relatives fighting for the union in the civil war? IMHO, it is simply a class action suit in which neither party (who is in the class harmed and who committed that harm) can be clearly legally identified. Should Obama's mother pay reparations to Obama?

Why do you use the term wannabe?

The wannabe went away when he smashed his fist into Zimmermans nose.

What does a guy have to do to go from a wannabe thug to a real thug?

Let us not forget about the money.

All kinds of organization will be collecting money to help fight racism, plus Martins mother is cleaning up.

She owns the phrase Justice for Tra... (I cannot use the words because I don't want to pay) and I see that phrase on t-shirts and posters all over the place.

And you know what?
... in the case you noted above, this

coulda been jonathan and it would have been just as horrific ... to us, but likely not to guys like Sharpton or some others we've heard from.

You see, it's not the act itself that matters, it's something else ... I'll leave it to readers to guess what that is.

Baby shot dead in stroller; 2 Georgia teens charged with murder

By Tom Watkins, Nick Valencia and Phil Gast, CNN

The mother told reporters the shooting occurred when one youth demanded money.

Police expressed confidence they would find the weapon, believed to be a handgun.

Spokesman Todd Rhodes, who described the shooting as "horrific," told CNN's "The Situation Room" on Friday evening that search warrants were being executed in three locations.

Chief Tobe Green identified the older suspect as De'Marquise Elkins, 17, and said he will be treated as an adult in criminal proceedings. The 14-year-old was not identified because of his age. Both have been charged with first-degree murder, police said.

Hmm..., If two white youths committed this crime and the 13 month old child was black, what would Barack Obama, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the NAACP be saying about this heinous hate crime. Was this child also a 'White Hispanic", or maybe a "Creepy Ass Cracka"?

I agree [with all due respect to his family]

Good morning, Bubba! :2wave:

Are people getting meaner these days, or is it that the media, together with those who have an agenda, keeps us constantly agitated with horrible stories like this? Most of us have enough on our plate already, and the fixation on violence towards each other adds nothing but sadness and anger!

It's the selective reporting & exploitation that makes it especially depressing and dangerous.
If that selective exploitation could be justified by saying "Well, they can't heavily report every violent act" that would be reasonable ... but you know it's not simply chance that informs Sharpton's agenda items.
I'm sorry ... but to me making a career as a race-monger should be thought of as one step away from criminal prosecution.
And being so obvious a race-monger should never get you a gig on any cable show ... even on MSNBC.

Yup. That's what we're dealing with these days.
It's way past time that both (a) that kind of stark attitudinal contrast and (b) the natural result of being silent about it ... is reported honestly.

I can feel compassion for both victims and their families... but "defend" them both?... nah.

lets defend both victims

is it hard ?
[/B

BOTH are DECIDEDLY & OBVIOUSLY not victims.

The child is a victim.....and one's heart is torn apart. The other is a VIOLENT TEENAGE DRUGGIE THUG who got killed by a person that a trial, legal and properly conducted, without any improprieties found by BOTH sides, including the thug's family.....was correctly found to be "NOT GUILTY" by a righteous jury.

TRUE!

First off I have 6 kids and can't imagine the pain TM's mom must be going thru and I feel for on that. However, to shamelessly capitalize on his death is pathetic behavior.

"Sybrina Fulton is seeking marks for the phrases “I Am Trayvon” and “Justice for Trayvon,” according to filings made last week with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In both instances, Fulton, 46, is seeking the trademarks for use on “Digital materials, namely, CDs and DVDs featuring Trayvon Martin,” and other products."

Geez... they already got at least a million bucks. How much more does it take to relieve her grief??

M is a thug like Z is a racist.

You should be ashamed.

The facts/evidence show that Zimmerman is exactly opposite from a racist - and I believe the hatred many express towards him is because he is Latino.

He took an African-American to prom, had an African-American business partner, circulated a petition on behalf of an African-American assaulted by a white guy, fundraised for an African-American church, and he is Latino. Many white people and African-Americans hate him for this because they the races should stay separate and in general hating Latinos.

The facts/evidence show that Martin was a punk.

Joko 104 just definitively PROVED that poster What If's statement: "M is a thug like Z is a racist" ...... should be altered to the CORRECT STATEMENT that TM is a Teenage Druggie Thug PSYCHO (see the CIRCUMSTANTIAL & FORENSIC EVIDENCE)......while Z, MOST ASSUREDLY, is not the "RACIST" labeled by poster What If.

IF THAT IS NOT CRYSTAL CLEAR......I Don't know what is.

Any other comments are superfluous.

To continue having a "race discussion" because of this case is to validate the hairbrained thought that this case has anything to do with race.

Which is why I will continue to question those who think it is a good idea to have a discussion on race relations, when said discussion came about from race baiters creating a racial incident where there was none....... rather than actually participate in a discussion on race relations as a result of this case. I refuse to validate the idea that this case had anything to do with race by being a part of a "discussion" that came about from something that had nothing to do with race.

Minorities have no more reason, because of this case, to have concern for their own children, profiling, or reason to question a self-defense law than anyone of any other race.
