The police investigated the actions between Zimmerman and Martin and were prepared to accept the statements and evidence presented with no charges. Our government's criminal justice system was then manipulated to pursue this fiasco of a trial. The state made no case for murder or manslaughter because they could not. Even the lead detective believed Zimmerman and the evidence showed he was not guilty of any crime.

How do you think this is going to impact the next George Zimmerman? How do you think the next person who is forced to defend themselves is going to react when being attacked by a black person or minority person? Do you think this fiasco and over rated media hyped show is going to impact someone's decision making in a critical situation of life and death? Is it going to teach would be "thugs" that maybe they shouldn't attack someone who's asking them what they are doing? Is it going to have that positive impact? Or is it going to do the opposite and encourage them to push the limits even further?

I wonder, because of this media frenzy encouraged by government operatives and politicians, will people change for the better or worse? Will someone die because they are afraid of being persecuted by our government like Zimmerman was?

Just got a phone call from a friend:

The turd-like newspaper New York Times, the quotidian Bible of the Black Racist Enabling DEM Gay/Lib scum had this on their Front Page:

A crowd of the Teen age Thug Trayvon Martin Female Sympathizers cuddling their infants in their arms purportedly showing the extent the emotional anguish these idiots are going thru with bemoaning the just verdict of Z's NOT GUILTY verdict !!!

I puked when I heard that........and, I am still puking.

I wonder how many times, if ever, these same idiots turned out in the streets cuddling their babes in their ams to bemoan the MONTHLY THOUSANDS of the TEEN AGE Black/Black, and Black/Non Black crimes across the Nation ?!?!?

Great post. I'll bet there we very few men near by when the mammas were holding up their babies because momma has no idea who daddy is. I'll also throw out a wager none of the mommas work and dropped out of school long before they spread their legs to have many, many babies for us to pay for with tax dollars. Long live Chicago (Obama's home) where more blacks die ever day than ever before in American history and it will only get worse (or better).

Personally, I think every self-defense shooting should be reviewed in a very methodical checklist kind of way.

It shouldn't be "life goes on as normal" when someone shoots another person in self-defense. If people are going to carry guns -- use guns -- there's an awesome responsibility that goes along with that. The bar needs to be set so that it's a major life inconvenience when one uses a gun to shoot another human being.

A review of circumstances -- the same way they review every officer shooting in the line of duty. I don't think that's too much to ask.

It will likely have no effect at all. Those that carry guns do so after serious thought and generally understand the great risk and responsibility in doing so. Those prone to commit crime will still do so, those not prone to commit crime will not become more prone to do so.

Simply because one case involving armed self defense made the news will not change much of anything, IMHO.

Seems to me that racism is being promoted by a lot of ordinary people. Look at this board.

For common sense listen to this guy.

If a young black criminal dies from a responsible gun owner in self-defense, I won't cry one bit.

Addition by subtraction.

A thorough review is not was Zimmerman was put through. I don't think any legal gun owner / permit holder expects to use a firearm in self defense and not have to explain it correctly. Zimmerman did that - in fact he volunteered every statement and follow up. His actions were given that review of which you speak. It was then tossed on its ear for political correctness and the media made it their racist battle cry for almost 18 months. That could well impact someone forced to defend themselves in the future.

Please note that police using guns RARELY results in any criminal prosecution. What GZ went through was far, far beyond anything like a "methodical review" it was a media circus and a political correctness fiasco. 16 months of madness is not a "methodical review". A typical grand jury would have been sufficient "methodical review" and taken maybe a day or two.

I agree with that. Completely.

If, however, there were a self-defense checklist in place (if the initial investigation were conducted in that manner), I believe it would have been neigh until impossible for the state to bring charges in the first place.
