re: What questions would you like answered at the Zimmerman trial? [W:209]
Assuming folks have open minds......
Are there some specific things you would like to see answered at trial?
One thing that gnaws at me is Zimmermans head injury. I have been a critical care RN for 30 plus years and having your head slammed against concrete multiple times should yield a more substantial injury. When people saw the "bloody" photo and had an "OMG" moment - I was totally unimpressed - head wounds bleed like crazy. So I would be curious if there is any medical testimony. A few minutes with a EMT just seems odd.
Another thing would be about the girlfriends phone call with Trayvon - was there actually one and she lied about things or was there never a call.
Also...having the witnesses sorted out would be interesting - and compare and contrast to the witnesses after it became front page news.
There is a lot more, but I am really curious about the head wound as it relates to his statements.
Anyone else have any specific curiosity?
First time poster here, so hello everyone!
My areas of interest would be the following.
1. What is the timeline of the point at which Zimmerman called the police when he first spotted the victim? This is because I do not believe the part of his story where he claims Trayvon "circled his car" after running behind the row houses, doubled back, and walking back on the street to circle him. I believe that by showing a simulation overlayed over a map with the NEN call together, it will be conclusively shown that he lied about this.
2. Exactly how far from the "T" was the body? In his first three tellings, he was hit once, went immediately down on the ground, and was then set upon. This of course would preclude moving more than a few feet on the ground. If the body was found 45 feet from that spot, how does he explain this?
3. Exactly what kind of fight training did Zimmerman have, in which he dropped 55 lbs over the course of two years? Is it reasonable to accept that he got beaten so quickly that within a matter of seconds he had to shoot?
4. Exactly what part of Trayvon's hands were tested for blood and why wasn't any of Zimmerman's blood found there? If he was really being smothered after his nose was broken and bloody, if his head was being smashed against concrete while bleeding, then why does the DNA seem to contradict this? Did they really test his fingernails and sleeves but not his hands? I would find that shocking.
5. Let's hear the witness accounts in concert. So far, it's hard to see what the consensus will be.
6. Why was the large flashlight found so far south of the T? According to his story, he was carrying the large flashlight in his hand at the time he was attacked. If this were true, then why are both Trayvon's cell phone and the large flashlight dropped SOUTH of the body? We know from Witness 8 that she heard the phone go dead with a "get off me" right before this. So it stands to reason that the very first things to fall would be the flashlight and the phone. Yet neither of those are near the T. In fact, the only thing near the T at all is the set of keys. And a witness saw Zimmerman walk up to the T after the murder. My theory is that after the shooting, he searched the body for a weapon (witnesses saw him straddling the body), and not finding any he pulled out his keys to look on the ground with the tiny flashlight. When the police arrived and asked him to put his hands up, he dropped his keys there and that's why they are the only items so far north. I'd like to hear from the arresting officer exactly where he was standing when he arrested Zimmerman to see if my theory holds up.
