SANFORD, Fla. —George Zimmerman's defense confirmed to WESH 2 that they will move forward with a new motion to delay his upcoming murder trial.

The issue centers on a new report from a state expert just made public Tuesday.

The state's expert voice analyst brings a new type of voice-recognition evidence to the trial.

WESH 2 legal analyst and attorney Jeff Dean said the new evidence is enough to grant the delay.

“You've got someone who professes to be an expert who is going to talk about things no one can hear but him,” Dean said.​

Zimmerman attorney Mark O'Mara criticized Reich's analysis, and he said he may ask for a trial delay to find an additional expert to rebut him. The defense lawyer said his expert has concluded Zimmerman was the one yelling.

Natalie Jackson, an attorney for Trayvon's family, said she believes the state reports are consistent with each other, and that both voices can be heard in the background of the call.

Reich earlier concluded the voice was Trayvon's in May 2012 analysis for the Washington Post. The Post said Reich has a doctorate in speech science and "has worked ... in hundreds of criminal and civil cases over a period of more than 35 years."

Two other analysts who studied the recordings for the Sentinel in March 2012 said the screams were not Zimmerman's. At the time of their analysis, and Reich's for the Post, there were no available voice samples of Trayvon.

The reports by Reich and Forensic Communication Associates show the state provided samples of Trayvon for the newly revealed analysis.

Previous records showed FBI analysts were unable to identify the source of the cries.

Last week, Zimmerman's attorneys asked for a hearing to determine the validity of the state's voice evidence.

Orlando defense attorney Richard Hornsby, who is not associated with the case, said the state must show the experts' conclusions are based on methods "commonly accepted within their particular scientific or expert community" as reliable.

WFTV-Channel 9 analyst Bill Sheaffer predicted the state would pass that test.

Zimmerman is charged with second degree murder. He says he acted in self-defense. The next hearing is May 28.

No one claimed the Prosecution was filing a motion to delay the trial.

Secondly since you don't seem to understand, let me inform you.

The defense finds itself in the position to have to request a continuance because the Prosecution delayed in having the analysis done again.
Unless excluded by the Court, the defense will require time to adequately prepare for it.
Had the prosecution not taken their time in having it analyzed (in other words - delayed), their would be no request for continuance from the defense.

So yes, the prosecution did delay.
And what I said is true.
They have to ask for more time to prepare because the Prosecution delayed.​

No.. the defense has been slow and late on reciprocal discovery..

OMara is delaying because they have problems.. least of which is that they are broke.

It can clearly be seen that it is the Prosecution that has been slow, causing the Defense to ask for delays to prepare.

In a legal system that takes 10 years of appeals to execute a convicted murder it doesn't suprize me of a delay. Maybe they want to have it run during the 2016 election time.

Seriously, our legal system needs a giant enema to cleanse out the system to make it run more efficiently.

Follow along.. OMara has publicly called down Robert jr for his racist remarks on more than one occasion. He's so keen on being "important" he's hurting his brother.

The giant enema to cleanse out the system is *by first* changing your attitude that someone is guilty before they have been convicted in a court

It's an ill conceived notion or principle and also get in the habit of discerning what happened from known facts and official reports.

Follow the facts....stick with the facts then come up with a theory.

The state's own listed expert confirms the FBI's conclusion that the samples were insufficient.

Another report, by Harry Hollien and James Harnsberger of Forensic Communication Associates, said the audio quality was insufficient for a definitive voice match.

Look it up.. Its been all over the news for months..

Both the prosecution and defense agreed that they were too prejudicial and were exempt from being published before the tril.
