George Zimmerman gains more than 100 pounds; Weight will be a factor

besides just being a blimp.
Yep!
Says more about you than it does about him.

I still contend the timing of the weight gain and the amount will have a negative impact upon Zimmerman,
Contend all you want. :doh
It isn't going to have any affect on the evidence.

Your problem is that you see it as he is gaining weight from some form of criminal guilt, when it could be any number of reasons which are more plausible.

Like from being charged with a crime he didn't commit.

is that Zimmerman's weight gain will be used against him.

Anyone care to debate this?

Yes, what you quoted does not say that at all. You may want to read what was stated again... This time for comprehension.

I doubt people will extrapolate from his weight gain that he's guilty. O'Mara may have been referring to the natural prejudice many people have against obese people. They won't like him.

That would be it exactly. Not only did the trial consultant say "might" which Jack takes to mean "definetly will" but it was more along the lines of preudicing the jury. A pretty woman would be viewed more favorably by a jury then an ugly woman just as a fat woman would be viewed less favorably by a jury then a thin woman. The op was not stating that it speaks to his guilt, which is what Jack wants to beleive. He doesn't have the evidence on his side so has to grab on to anythign else that he can.

Holy ****!
Talk about ZDS and pathetically grasping.

You are probably right. But TM should have called the police and acted as an adult, instead of assaulting GZ and attempting to take his gun. He died at the end of a gun which was used within the statutes of the law.

Now, he's a martyr.

Trayvon did not have much time before he suspected a problem with Zimmerman until the moment he was killed. Why would be call police until Zimmerman actually accosted him?

Before, after, doesn't matter. He shouldn't have escalated it to a physical altercation. GZ would most likely have gotten some sort of minor punishment and TM would still be alive and be a newsworthy story for people to complain about profiling.

Woulda, shoulda, coulda. Bottom line, George Zimmerman is a murderer.

He may be. He may not be.

In the end the jury will decide.

(It was interesting today that the judge in a differnt case in reading jury instructions to them, basically stated that to have charges brought against someone does not mean a presumption of guilty. The State must prove beyond a reasonable doubt the charge is true. The defense does not need to prove that the person is innocent.)

In the GZ case, imo I don't see murder 2. manslaughter, maybe., not guilty maybe.

It was in self-defense, which is legal in Florida and in many other states. If you don't like it, picket with some friends and try to get the law changed. As it stands now, GZ is not guilty of a crime.

I don't get it - you expected someone who was already overweight to not gain more weight?

He lost weight when he appeared at the first bond hearing, so I would have to say I never thought he would balloon into the huge blimp he has become.

I had no expectations either way, except I suspected he would grow out his hair and lose the goatee. Maybe he needs to shave his head again, a reverse-Sampson, to lose the weight.

His fu man chu facial hair was really gross.

Iirc, Florida is in the process of reviewing its self defense laws, as they have proven overbroad.

All you have to do to commit murder in FL is do it where nobody sees, whack your head on the wall a couple of times and claim self defense. (NOT saying Z did this, just that thats how the law is written.)

"We'll take your word for it" just doesn't wash when somebody kills somebody.

Which is why this case is in trial. If the law gets changed, cool. But the fact remains that Z killed TM in self defense when it was legal. Blame the inadequacies of the law, not Zimmerman.

Smart. Chubby guy looks less threatening.

Or, George could have spoken.... identifying himself and defusing the situation instead of shooting a kid in the chest.

Do you even know what happened?

Zimmerman, whether profiling or not, was assaulted by TM. Then, TM tried to take Z's gun while he was beating the **** out of him. Z then shot him in the struggle. That is self-defense. TM assaulted someone who was legally carrying a gun in a state where using it is very much accepted in self defense situations. TM should have used the cell phone he was on to call the police and notify them that a strange man was approaching or harrassing him. He would still be alive.
