The following in an excerpt from a much longer article in the Christian Science Monitor
IMO, OMara is a skilled attorney, but blaming Trayvon will work against Zimmerman.
Zimmerman's zeal in playing cops is what killed Trayvon.

Zimmerman’s attorney: Trayvon Martin killed 'because of his own doing'

Zimmerman’s credibility has been wrecked by his decision to conspire to deceive the court with his wife, who said on April 20 that the couple was basically penniless, even as they had been moving around $130,000 of donations from strangers in the days leading up to the bond hearing. At the time, Zimmerman sat stone-faced, “allowing a lie to stand,” O’Mara conceded.

In appealing for the second bond, O’Mara focused on a previous statement by the judge stating that there was a “strong case” for the second-degree murder charge. O’Mara said the state’s case is actually weak because, in his view, the preponderance of evidence points to a legitimate self-defense claim.

After breaking Zimmerman’s nose and allegedly hitting his head on a cement walkway at least twice, “then [Martin] got shot, and he was killed because of his own doing,” O’Mara said

Prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda told the court that the state’s case will show that Zimmerman overstepped his authority as a citizen by profiling an innocent boy as a criminal, falsely acted as a police officer by pursuing him, and shot and killed Martin without sufficient evidence that his own life was actually in danger.

Mr. De la Rionda said he’ll be glad to challenge Zimmerman on the self-defense claim, because it requires Zimmerman has to take the stand to plead his case. “Our contention is that he’s the aggressor and the person who could claim self-defense is the victim, Trayvon Martin,” De la Rionda said.

He was emphasizing for the Judge, something we all know to be true.

It will not hurt Zimmerman at all.
Not even if he does it at trial.

And De la Rionda is a joke.

I think you are wrong because this was not Trayvon's picture show.. Trayvon was not upset over all the burglars who got away.. He wasn't profiling or following anyone and he wasn't armed.

Every element in this case came out of GZ's mind... and pushed the situation into panic mode when he failed to identify himself as requested.

You must remember, that Trayvon didn't have a clue who George was or why he was in pursuit.

Sorry, but in the exact same situation the only thing that would have differed if I were in Zimmerman's place is that Martin wouldn't have gotten close enough to punch me before he got TWO in the chest. If he were still moving it would have been one more in the head.

Oh I doubt that you would have done the same thing. Zimmerman has some sort of mental illness or personality disorder.

He confused the reality of the situation with his weird fantsies.

Yeah... Sure!

Except that Trayvon sure did act out violently when it wasn't called for. It is his fault he is now deceased.

I think people from both sides have done that.

Yeah... Sure!

no, he acted violently in self-defense against an obsessive/angry stalker.

Only in your head.
And you want to accuse others of having issues. lol

Can you claim you are privy to Trayvon's state of mind.. Up to the point that George was on foot in the alley, Trayvon tried to retreat or evade any confrontation with the stranger who was following him.

no, he acted violently in self-defense against an obsessive/angry stalker.
No he didn't

The definition of stalking doesn't fit Zimmerman's actions.
Secondly, Trayvon came back and confronted Zimmerman. That isn't self-defense in anyone's book.

Then you don't know me very well, Sharon. I have no great respect for human life and never have. The moment he failed to stop and acknowledge me, he'd have gotten shot. In the back if necessary.

that would have CERTAINLY sent you to prison or even the death penalty, for Murder.

Then Z is not responsible for his actions. He must not have known right from wrong because of the mental illness. Why didn't people realize this and get him help. This is what many said about the Gabbie Giffords shooter Jared Loughner.

If you want to go down the mental illness route, then Z should not be accountable based on what some have said about Loughners case. Where is your proof that Zimmerman is mentally ill?

Trayvon had tried to retreat and evade Zimmerman's pursuit and then ASKED him, why are you following me.. THAT is an adult question that under the circumstances DESERVES and answer.

I'll take my chances with twelve people stupid enough not to be able to get out of jury duty rather than taking the chance of one person who may be in my neighborhood to steal, assault, etc....

That would have been answered by "I LIVE HERE. YOU DON'T. WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" while pointing a .45ACP at him.

LOL - zimmerman lived on the sidewalk in the backyard of two apartment complexes?

Trayvon came back and confronted Zimmerman. That is not retreating.

So what if you were Martin and some stranger was following you about in the dark?

Do you run away?

I think mental illness is George's best defense.. GZ isn't like Loughner.. who is psychotic.. I think GZ would be diagnosed as a sociopath or narcissistic.. or some combination or both. He wanted control.. and that is a pattern that goes back to 2001.

What is very clear to me is that he was utterly convinced that Trayvon was a criminal.. Never considered he might be wrong. That is irrational.

Notice that Jerry Sandusky doesn't know he did anything wrong in molesting those young boys. With a mindset LIKE that, one can always pass a lie detector test because there is NO awareness of wrong doing.

If George KNEW he was in the wrong, he wouldn't have been so happy being the center of attention at SPD and laughing it up on Feb. 27th and he wouldn't have been making jokes about wearing a hoodie.

An honest man who made a mistake would have been crushed with remorse. Not George.. Read the text at his website where he states he has suffered a life altering event. George has NO concept of having done wrong.
