Did politics drive prosecution in Trayvon Martin case?

No it isn't.

according to most of these definitions, it is:

To track prey or quarry.
v.tr.
1. To pursue by tracking stealthily.
2. To follow or observe (a person) persistently, especially out of obsession or derangement.

to pursue or approach prey, quarry, etc., stealthily.
2. to walk with measured, stiff, or haughty strides: He was so angry he stalked away without saying goodbye.
3. to proceed in a steady, deliberate, or sinister manner: Famine stalked through the nation.
4. Obsolete . to walk or go stealthily along.
verb (used with object)
5. to pursue (game, a person, etc.) stealthily.
6. to proceed through (an area) in search of prey or quarry: to stalk the woods for game.
7. to proceed or spread through in a steady or sinister manner: Disease stalked the land.

1. to follow or approach (game, prey, etc) stealthily and quietly
2. to pursue persistently and, sometimes, attack

Another one?

lol
You are still wrong. Period!

a man kills a young man under very questionable circumstances, and he doesn't face any criminal charges whatsoever?

that is what caused the uproar.

however, he should not be charged with Murder 2. That was a mistake.

The internet started the uproar, the media and politicians did what they do, and the wheels of "justice" finally began turning.

I'm not convinced this is a case of the tail wagging the dog, I (and I'm sure many others) were satisfied when the outside investigation began.

Now, I'm just curious.

The purpose of trials is not, and was never, *to find out what happened*

Get real

You must be the CO-KNOW-EVERYTHING Person with Excon. Good job. We should all feel blessed that you two are controlling the case information...and probably the trial outcome.

I don't believe politics drove this case, the public drove it via it's outrage. After the public outrage, the case was put under scrutiny. The more light was placed on the case the more crappy it looked.

Basically, if the police did it's job properly and not simply believe Zimmerman did the right thing based on nothing but his word, there would be far less outrage because Zimmerman would be in prison already.

I'd like to know if politics played a role in letting Z go in the first place. The police wanted to charge Z but it was the DA down at the Courthouse they squashed it. Interesting that Zimmerman's mother is a Deputy Clerk at the same Courthouse and has been for the last 20 years.

his dad is a former judge...his mom is a deputy clerk.

looks like George got some favors.

That's why the prosecutor didn't want a grand jury to decide on arrest and being charged.... "favors" being done. Political favors. Political extortions.

Why do YOU think no private-citizen's grand jury should have been allowed to decide whether or not to indict? Why do YOU think his arrest and being charged should rest solely with political government powers?

prove it, with EVIDENCE.

speculation doesn't count.

LOL! I was satiring YOUR speculation of "favors." I thought that obvious. So, prove your speculations of favors for Zimmerman WITH EVIDENCE.

Says the person who has no idea what they are talking about.

Do you agree that no citizen's grand jury should have been involved? That law enforcement and judge-politicians can unilaterally put you in jail for months to a couple of years solely on their decision for which you have no recourse to even a grand jury of your peers to decide if there is any basis at all for you being in jail?

Give any justification for bypassing the citizens grand jury as is nearly always done other than the prosecutor worried she could not show even probably cause, let alone guilt, to 12 private citizens?

Don't know if anyone has posted this on the forum yet. Thought it was a semi-fascinating video. Was created the day after the Trayvon Martin event. And it seems to follow the police phone transcript relatively closely.

(Curious point. I watched the full "15 minute evidence version" of this video a couple of hours ago. Since then, they seem to all be getting pulled from the web. Can no longer find one.)

I guess that means we both have no evidence for our claims, only speculation. :)

Actually, I think "extrapolations from known or accepted facts" is more accurate. We both are taking tidbits of facts, information and probabilities on facts, blending it all together, and drawing probability conclusions, but not clear fact conclusions.

Does that sound about right?
;)

indeed, my friend. Indeed.

only a few facts are know. You are I are trying to connect the dots and speculate as to what else occured.

which is fine..as long as we are honest about it.

Sometimes arguing to argue goes too far. Yes, probably Zimmerman having a relative clerk there was a benefit - though that can't be held against Zimmerman.

I also think it is obvious politics is a major factor given that all the talking heads pushing this were past presidential candidates, politicians and partisan political talking head. But that per se doesn't mean prosecution is wrong or Zimmerman innocent.

I tend to see Zimmerman as the ordinary, none-to-bright guy who wants to do good and isn't all that smart about it. Such as shoving a cop off a friend SEEMS right and is good motived, but probably wrong headed. Regardless of why it is, I tend to lean a bit toward Zimmerman because he seems to give a damn about others - even if he does delusion himself into some do-gooder or hero type figure in his inner fantasy self (that we all have I suspect).

I think you and some others look on him with disfavor as you see him as a rather psychologically disturbed individual who mostly annoyed and harassed people while subjecting dozens of people to wrongful 911 calls, and then got himself a gun for which he has to be held accountable for killing someone as a result of his bizarre wanna-be-hero confused and wrong-motived delusions of which the world is good-guys (him), bad people (like Zimmerman) and the people needing defending from bad guys (his neighbors). Because he got it wrong in your view he must be held accountable for the resulting death.

Conversely, I do think Martin was a "punk" by his school record and facebook page, the evidence does seem to support that Martin when into a rage and was assaulting Zimmerman, and with Zimmerman clearly down - and then as I have also speculated it became a stuggle for the gun - BOTH had a right to try to get the gun and BOTH had a right to shoot the other in self defense at that moment because that is how it evolved.

I think a major difference between us is you attach greater responsibility to Zimmerman because 1.) he brought the gun and 2.) he was older plus 3.) Zimmerman first initiated it all in calling 911 and watching Martin.

I attach NO significance to how had the gun as it was legal to have it, do NOT see Martin as a child but as a young adult fully responsible for his actions and decisions, and since how Zimmerman acted was NOT illegal, it doesn't matter if he initiated it.
Two very flawed people increasingly made wrongheaded decisions beyond their abilities, wisdom or skills, in a bizarre series of events this lead to a moment of life death struggle over a gun - and one of them died. Whichever one that would have been, I see it as self defense. Under these identical facts, if Martin has shot and killed Zimmerman, I would call it self defense.

Everyone lies. Of course Zimmerman is telling the story as most favorable to him within possible fact ranges and all that. The bottomline is I think it came to a struggle over the gun and that moment both had right to use any means possible to save his own life. Anything else is to deny fundamental human nature. And obviously you believe it Zimmerman's misconduct (only) that lead to the struggle or shooting.

...Conversely, I do think Martin was a "punk" by his school record and facebook page....

Zimmerman thought he was a "****ing punk" and an "asshole", without going through his school records or his Facebook page. He made this determination by simply looking at him.

There you go again with your make believe fantasy land crap.

how did Zimmerman establish that Martin was a "****ing punk" and an "asshole"?
:doh

Just give up that make believe fantasy land crap.

Not by his looks, but by his attitude

Martin's behavior or attitude was suspicious

attitude?

Zimmerman spoke with Martin?

how was Zimmerman able to establish Martin's attitude and decide that he was a "****ing punk" and an "asshole"?
