Audio: George Zimmerman’s Jailhouse Phone Calls

All jailhouse phone calls are monitored.

Zimmerman has no right to privacy.. He's in jail.. His bond was revoked for lying about his finances.

No, the question is why are his conversations with his wife being released by the prosecutor to the public?

Because of government in the Sunshine..

Would you prefer to hide the fact of perjury and fraud?

WTF kinda of nonsense is that? "government in the sunshine"? This case has nothing to do with "the government". Any supposed "perjury and fraud" is the purview of the judge/prosecution/jail/etc, but not the media/general public.

All of Martin's school, juvenile and medical records should be made public then too so everything is "in the Sunshine." Obviously you agree.

Read the law .. since 1909 Florida has had the broadest public access to information in the country.

It took a special dispensation from the court to protect the identities of the civilian witnesses in this case... because of the threats.

If you don't like it... don't get sideways of the law in Florida.

I am glad you said it.. That exactly what they are.. White trash.

And IMO.. George Zimmerman has a serious personality disorder.

Zimmerman does seem to have depression or some type of chemical imbalance... I am not sure if he has ever had it under control but I think he has tried with medication.

I think she is referring to Florida, the Sunshine State. The prosecution isn't breaking Florida privacy laws.

A lot of his records have been made public, that's how we know of the suspension. But this isn't a matter of attacking the Zimmerman's. The tapes are considered evidence under Florida law, and the law allows such evidence to be released to the public.

The release of these tapes rises to the level of *outrageous government behavior/conduct*

It's not against the law. Some people are saying SYG laws are outrageous... Some laws may work in GZ's favor, but Florida law on public info isn't one of them.

I thought you were an expert on Florida law.

He and his wife certainly aren't helping him any. At the same time, I question Corey releasing this information to the public. How can it not taint the jury pool?
This kind of stuff is not protected and is generally readily available via FOIA requests. Corey, or whoever, would have to present a solid case as to why this shouldn't be made public to keep it from being public. But the default is that all sorts of this kind of info is readily available--just usually, we don't give a ****.

I really wish you and Excon would stop calling the females baby and dear when talking to us... seems kind of rude
I have never called anyone "baby" and I doubt I ever will. You got that babs?

Btw, it isn't just females. I call males dear too.

If she dumps him and he is in prison, then Excon will a chance to capture his heart... lol

(btw, the comment is a joke and not an insult. Hope Excon can take a joke.)
That's good to know dear! :)

Frankly I would place her in prison and weld the door shut just because of the way she looks.
But thankfully that really isn't how we judge people.

So the public has an automatic right to listen in on phone calls of people in jail?
I would have to be quoted to a link to Florida law that states that an innocent man not yet proven guilty in a court of law has the right to the public to hear his private conversations in jail. I think that is a crock of bull****.

I think the govt has the right to listen to things on their phone lines, and the citizenry have the right to know what the govt has in re charges it brings against members of the citizenry.

These two things outweigh GZ's inconvenience of not having enough privacy while he is incarcerated.

This question has been answered in this thread previously. It's government information. The public has a right to keep an eye on its government.

GZ's "right to privacy while incarcerated" is a lesser concern than the public's need to be able to keep tabs on its government.

If you can get the FL legislature to write laws that cover the release of these records the way that they have in re records of the courts, it would be quite a feat.

They were not private conversations. They were being recorded and they knew it, hence talking in code. If you're interested in specifics on Florida law, then you'll have to look it up yourself. If you disagree with the law, then that's fine... but I highly doubt the prosecutor is breaking FL law.

The ARE private conversations. They are only recorded for the safety of the inmates in the jail. They are not recorded to be played to the public.

And YOU'RE the one that said its florida law and I'm calling bull**** on that. Don't make **** up and then say "If you're interested in it, look it up yourself." **** that, you made the **** up, you back it up or its bull****.

Good God... I posted a link to the law earlier on this thread.. or look it up yourself..

Its called the Sunshine Law.

George is a complete idiot.. who is going to make OMaras job impossible if he doesn't learn to shut his mouth.

Just a slight correction.

They are recorded for law enforcement purposes.

I read that his lawyer was able to get nearly 100 phone conversations from being released to the public... so these few phone calls are far from being all their conversations

OMara is scrambling to get the rest sealed.. What is it with George?

And now O’Mara has asked the judge in the case to keep dozens of other calls private while trying to seal the statements of witness 9 which can be damaging to his client.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, prosecutors had been set to release 145 additional calls on Monday, but delayed after learning of O'Mara's objection however he did file a motion trying to bar the release of a second statement made by one of the witnesses.

The witness, identified as "Witness 9" in prosecution documents, has not been publicly identified as one of her two statements has been withheld from the public so far, and O'Mara argues it should stay that way.

In her first statement, Witness 9 says that she knows Zimmerman, as well as his family, saying-

"I know George, and I know that he does not like black people...He would start something. He's a very confrontational person. It's in his blood. Let's just say that."

Funny Excon. I think she had pretty eyes. She is overweight, but she's not bad looking overall. I think her skin looks nice in her photo... it could be her makeup though

Exactly, and it stops the speculation that he is being treated unfairly by the system, and that is exactly what people were arguing before the tapes were released. Now that we hear the phone calls, it's pretty obvious they were up to no good and they knew it was wrong. It's also clear that George was involved.

It's awful to hear Zimmerman and his wife celebrating the money and saying they are going to have a good life. When he got arrested, I felt kind of bad for him. The stress is taking an obvious toll on him and his weight. A lot of people are complaining he hasn't been treated fairly, his rights have been violated, etc. etc. like he is the real victim in all of this, but he has created much of these problems for himself. He obviously wanted to hide the money from the authorities so he could have more, meanwhile his wife is throwing parties to celebrate.

The other family involved in this case buried a family member and celebrated a mournful Father's Day, meanwhile the Zimmerman's are saying they are "excited" and they are "going to have good life."

Zimmerman doesn't need any more donations. I can't believe people have given him over a quarter million so far.
This is how I feel. It's impossible for me to feel sympathy for someone who killed someone and is celebrating money they've gotten while the family of the person they killed is mourning and young life is completely gone. It's sickening. You better believe that if I ever killed someone in the manner Zimmerman did, I wouldn't be rejoicing about anything.

I also feel a bit sickened knowing that some DP members have said in the past that they might donate to Zimmerman. Gross.
