For those who routinely discuss this issue, why exactly is it important to you?

I was oriignally only interested because I didn't like the initial rush to judgement that was occuring. I really didn't have any idea if I felt he was guilty or not, but realized that not enough information was out to make any decision and most of it was just pumped up by the media. My position has solidified since then, now I guess i'm just stuck with following the case.

Wasn't GZ arrested sometime in April?

As soon as the case hit the media, everyone rushed to a judement based on bad information filtered through the media. A lot of that early reporting has since been found to be flat out incorrect.

In order to even get to an arrest, they had to force multiple people to step aside and appoint a special prosecutor who clearly overcharged in order to get an arrest and quell the anger created by those initlal, false reports.

It doesn't interest me. People need to get over it. The stand your ground law is being evaluated for possible changes to improve it. The people got what they wanted and there was an arrest and a trial. Things like this happen every day and the only reason this got any notice were the racial implications and gun rights implications.

The people?

The people?

Man, that is whack.

The horde got their way, not the people.

No everybody didn't.. Some people who wanted to make it about race or political parties did.

Norm Wolfzinger has a TERRIBLE reputation...

Wrong!
Everybody from your side of the coin rushed to judgement, and initiated making it about race and political affiliation.

Depends what side you are on. It's a mob if you are against it and it's a democratic majority if you are for it.

Some of us are undecided - and would just like sound minds to be the prevailing voice; regardless of what they say. The 'horde' mentality has come from both extreme sides.

A majority of Democrats, that sounds about right.

But in all seriousness, is was an ill-informed horde that got their way, not some so-called democratic majority.

I agree. This entire case has seemed overblown to me by both sides. Zimmerman is a perjuring dick and by accounts Martin was no perfect peach either. Instead of letting the media whip us into a frenzy by influencing our sentiments about gun rights and racial equality maybe the question we should be asking is why should we waste our time on this crap? And that is really what this is all about, people allowing themselves to be the tools of special interests. A kid died, a man is on trial, and the whole thing probably could have been settled by leveler heads. That is all there is to it. Martin's race could have been different or the gun laws could have been different and the whole scenario could have played out exactly the same way.

This is absolutely comical in every aspect

Because President Obama and his talking heads turned into a political race war corrupting the entire criminal justice system to do so. The levels of outright lying, altering and fabricating by the pro-Obama media was extreme, with Obama then making the most racist statement and measure of people of any president in many, many decades.

I initially found a lot of opportunity to troll people. However, I was quickly overcome by the stampede of loonatics suffering from severe retard-rage; people were actually taking this seriously, and talking the internet seriously is always a mistake. This forum is way to potato for me.

How is that "wrong"? Justice is "wrong"?

Wake up! This is the real world...

The criminal justice system has nothing to do with either criminals or justice

Lol, I don't get people who say don't take the internet seriously, as if this is 1996. EVERYTHING is being done over the internet these days, from banking, dating, business, education.....wtf do you mean don't take the internet seriously? Maybe "since you like to troll people" nobody should take you seriously?

For example:

DebatePolitics.com is not the real world. Nothing anyone says here, no opinion or argument however well thought out and sourced, will find Pants guilty or not guilty. Nothing said here will have any impact on the case what-so-ever.

A lot of folks, however, behave as though the Zimmerman/Martin Case forum on DebatePolitice.com will decide Pant's fiat, establish actual policy or even rewrite the very constitution.

This is exactly like pretending World of Warcraft is real. The people who get all worked up on this forum are exactly like WoW players who scream and threaten others over TeamSpeak during a raid.

I have no problem if you want to mark a difference between banking or online education and a discussion forum, as long as that difference is clear. Nothing said on this website is a mater of life or death.

Why is this issue important to you? What about it makes you continue to discuss it?

It seems to me that many people use this issue as a tool to further their own political agendas.
