George Zimmerman in custody, will be charged in Trayvon Martin case

George Zimmerman has been taken into custody and will face criminal charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, officials told NBC News.

Angela Corey, the special prosecutor appointed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott to re-examine the case, will announce what charge or charges she will seek about 6 p.m. ET, a law enforcement official told NBC News.

It has begun. Let's put testimony of him and witnesses under oath and get down to the actual facts now.

My guess is he gets his first good night's sleep tonight. Guilty or innocent, my guess is that he's relieved.

At least he can be protected. Yeah. Perhaps you're right.

I'm wondering if a plea will be struck before a trial?

I wonder what he's going to do about a lawyer now... I kind of hope he doesn't hire the same douchebags back.

btw... is there a place I can watch streaming news online? I am not able to watch her speech and I want to. :(

I hope not.

Well if a plea were struck it would probably be the most civil end to it all. Because a plea would basically be excepted publicly as an admission of guilt which would throw a wet rag on the flames building up around this all which a jury decision might inflame.

I hoping he can at least have a fair trial. With the president and many of the race baiters (jackson and sharpton) screaming his guilt and with the public being hyper emotional about this a fair trial may be hard.

My guess is that the defense will postpone this case as long as the court allows to let everything cool down.

All other Zimmerman threads are now rendered obsolete. My thread reigns supreme!

I think he already has one. At least, that what CNN said at some point. I don't know it's a private lawyer or a court appointed one though.

The president never said he was guilty - at all. Epic fail. I don't think the others did either.

Angela Corey seems pretty professional at this press conference and she's defending his privacy and constitutional rights now. I don't see any reason to believe he won't be treated fairly at this point. And I don't recall Obama ever saying he was guilty.

If you hadn't thrown the president in there, I would have agreed. Though I don't know how relevant Jackson and Sharpton are.

She is acting very professionally in this conference.

See this is where your blind dislike for Obama does not help your case.

Show me in this video, at any point where Obama proclaimed that Zimmerman was guilty.

yes, which gives us some clue as to her professionalism. Granted, not the last word or only word on it, but it's a nice start.

I'm not following Sharpton and Jackson that closely but from I have seen of them at worst was that they wanted him arrested and put on trial.

2nd degree murder is a much more difficult thing to prove over manslaughter. They must have some big evidence that hasn't been released to the public.
