Yeah, I'm afraid that's true.

And the way these things work, it's pretty dumb to assume that people flying into, say, NYC or wherever, live there and will get the disease there and stay there and infect a bunch of liberal yankee Trump haters. They fly into NYC, then home, and most of the time it's not in those cities where the major international airports are located. And the one guy who was infected showed no signs at arrival, so screening at this point won't ID him, and he'll go on to wherever, and get sick, and then that city is at higher risk, etc.....

Not sure where you live, but there are a bunch of Chinese owned manufacturing plants in my red state, many in rural areas, and lots of people in my state travel to China on business where they have product manufactured, then imported back here. And the virus has been reported in many countries, not just China, and including Mexico, just across the border from Texas. So the way a pandemic spreads doesn't follow your simplistic assumptions. As of now the virus is contained to just a few hundred individuals, but if/when it becomes a problem, living in a red state away from the major airports won't be any comfort to anyone.

The big problem is the one guy confirmed in the U.S. wasn't showing any symptoms when he arrived, so a screening likely would have missed him. If a screening does catch them, the people in the targeted cities aren't at any higher risk than those in Frog Bottom. So the risk is them flying into the U.S. and then onto wherever their final destination is, undetected. That's how it will spread.

Since everyone from China is being routed to specific airports in blue cities, then my original post stands. That is where it will start.

That's ignorant on multiple levels, but it's not worth the effort to correct you, again. I'll just say it's possible a U.S. pandemic will 'start' in those cities, but routing flights from China to those cities isn't the reason.

Well, Obama handled it well, since there wasn't ever any crisis in the U.S. despite the media's election year attempt to make it into a big deal. It was fascinating how that "CRISIS!!!!" died completely like a day after the 2014 election. POOF!

We can only hope Trump's team does as well for any future issue like that.

Given Obama's refusal to protect Americans from Ebola by way of issuing a travel ban on West African countries, I would say that he did less than nothing to prevent the 11 Ebola cases, and 2 deaths from occurring. He simply got lucky that American medical professionals are the best in the world, and successfully managed to treat the infected patients, and contain the disease.

I'm amused by your characterization of the media's coverage of the 2014 Ebola outbreak however, as if they weren't supposed to talk about it during a holy sacred election year. Pfft.

Right, because such a ban would have been stupid and was only advocated for by ignoramuses and fear mongerers. It was the pandemic professionals at CDC and elsewhere who advised NOT to issue a counterproductive travel ban. Obama did the right thing and listened to them, not idiot right wing talk show hosts and other ignorant hacks.

I didn't say that. What I said was it was fascinating that the CRISIS!!! died with the election. All the concerns about the travel ban....died away...POOF!. It was almost as if the CRISIS!!!! was being used for partisan political reasons, not based on any sober evaluation of the issue.

Obama was the first President to permit Ebola to reach the USA. Coupled with his willingness to arm Islamic radicals, and not use the term Islamic terrorism, many of us were lead to believe that Obama simply never viewed American lives as having much value.

And most Dems are fine with 80,000 Americans dying every year from Mexican drugs or pharmaceuticals, according to most libs and progressives. After all, most of those deaths are young white people, many from red states.
