San Francisco pushes back as Trump claims city waterways have 'tremendous pollution' | TheHill

The city of San Francisco is pushing back against claims from the Trump administration that it isn’t doing enough to treat the stormwater it pumps back into its bay.

Officials sent a letter to Environmental Protection Agency head Andrew Wheeler on Wednesday touting San Francisco's sewer system after the EPA chief listed the city last week when discussing how California is "failing to meet its obligations" on sewage and water pollution.
=====================================
Trump's people complaining about others ruining the environment? Hypocrites all.

Just last month Trump's EPA seriously weakened existing regulations on how much methane companies can pump into the atmosphere.

Geez..

People bitch about Trump hurting the environment, then they bitch when he tries to help it. He just can't ****ing win with some people!

Okay, so even the EPA is telling California that they're failing at water pollution standards.

Yet this is just to bitch about Trump?

It sounds like pollution in San Fran is real world problem. Probably a combination of the run off of lawn fertilizer and the untreated sewage of the homeless living on the street among the piles of feces.

Any time you gather millions of people into a small area, they are going to destroy the local ecology.

Is it Trump's fault that San Francisco has millions of people living there?

With or without Trump in office or even in existence, 80 percent to the wastewater generated by mankind hits the local environment untreated. In the US, this percent is vastly lower. With or without Trump.

Just to clarify my understanding of your assertion and that of The Hill:

If there are more than 7000 people living on and defecating on the streets of San Francisco, introducing raw sewage into the environment, if the Trump Administration addresses it, it simply goes away. Poof! It's gone!

Wow! That is some kind of powerful.

Now, if he could just have that same impact on stupid, we'd have something goin' on!

Yes, because large amounts of human feces being washed into the municipal waterways, is completely fine for the environment.

Did you read that article?

I've read several today on the topic. Just pointing out the fact that people openly crapping on the streets, isn't really good for the environment.

First of all, animals crap all over the place. Not just human beings.

Second of all.....if you read the article I posted, you would know how it is being handled,

That being said. Room for a lot of improvement - sure. But given the fact that people come into a city that has overburdened services.....you have to constantly catch up to need.

And used needles....and trash from homeless camps...

Oh I know that they are trying to deal with it. Aside from picking up the human waste, they need to deal with all of the trash as well. But they need to more than just get the waste off the street and start with getting these people off the streets as well.

Yes, I did. That's what caused my observation that if Trump addresses anything, then the need to address it just evaporates.

It's like magic!

If Trump talks about 7000 people deviating on the street in a mile square area, then the stuff they leave on the sidewalks just vanishes.

There is no run off from any chemicals used on laws or trees and no issues arising from sewage treatment or from sewage that is not treated.

In this, as in all things, Trump has a borderline magical effect.

It's interesting that the EPA is considered to be an infallible source of truth when it opposes Trump and an evil tool of perverse power when it supports him.

The EPA needs to pick a lane and either be infallible or perverse all the time.

"Overburdened services"? It's literally the richest city in the US, plus it's full of leftist idiots who luv bigger government and luv paying taxes. How can progressives argue that government is the solution to so many problems when it's failing in San Francisco, where the conditions for big government are near-perfect?

They do more and more.

The city has no more space. It is difficult to keep people off the streets when more and more show up. But they do make great efforts.

From what we've seen, the effort might not be as great as it seems, or they are sadly unable to actually apply enough resources.

It doesn't help that their climate is probably one of the best to attract the homeless as well.

Trump is not credible and his 10,000 lies made it so. We will see what an independent source says.

EPA Puts San Francisco On Notice Over ‘Instances Of Sewage Flowing In The Streets’

From The Daily Caller Chris White Tech Reporter October 03, 2019 10:30 AM ET The Environmental Protection Agency issued a notice Wednesday accusing San Francisco of violating the Clean Water Act, a 1970s environmental regulation designed to protect the country’s waterways and tributaries. San Francisco is struggling to maintain its sprawling sewage system, allowing “substantial…
