How Trump may bulldoze 'America's Amazon' - CNNPolitics

How Trump may bulldoze 'America's Amazon'

Tongass National Forest, Alaska (CNN) In the hottest Alaskan summer on record, amid countless signs of a climate in crisis, a camera phone captured a Republican fundraiser on Kenai Peninsula.

Judging from the laughs and smiles, you'd never know that they are a few dozen miles from the Swan Lake Fire, now burning for over three months. But the mood is giddy because a surprise caller is on speaker -- President Trump.
===================================================
Nothing to see here, just handouts for all his buddy Republican fatcats:

'He mentions drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge way up north and building a road through the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge in the south. "King Cove Road! Yessir!" says (Sen.) Sullivan as Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker nods with vigor.

Besides opening up ANWR for oil drilling exploitation, the Republicans plan to balance the Alaskan state budget but logging out the Tongass National Forest, the crown jewel of the National Forest system. The Tongass absorbs 8% of the CO2 in the atmosphere. And then there are the planned roads through once pristine wilderness.

Perhaps the people who spoke in that video should tell their Governor what he needs to do to balance their state budget.

How? By looting pristine natural resources?

Tweety McClownface plants to loot our national forests

of course he does. he's a scumbag.

"looting"

Since you have no idea what will actually be done, your characterization of this as looting is nothing more than unsupported hyperbole.

In any case, the Governor has a job to do. I suggest the Alaskan citizens give their Governor some ideas on how he should do his job instead of just opposing whatever he comes up with and then walking away.

Mycroft (and seemingly just about any other right winger) would have happily volunteered to cut down the last tree on Easter Island.

And now you've hit your daily quota of second-post thread diversions. You can punch out. Congrats!

Sell Alaska back to Russia.

Alaskans got a raw deal. Unlike other states, the people of Alaska own all natural resources on public land. For this, every Alaskan is to receive a share of profits. However, unlike other states, the federal government banned Alaskans selling their natural resources - profiting Big Oil, billionaires and millions, and other states.

I don't see Democratic New England removing their cities, towns, farms and highways to restore the land back to natural dense forests. Yet they believe that can outlaw Alaskans doing exactly what they have done and do.

That place is a million square miles of nothing. The Republicans show photos of a frozen wasteland, the democrats show photos of Bambi frolicking in spring flowers. In reality it is cold and windy with snowdrifts most of the time.

There is plenty of room for drilling platforms and pipelines with animal underpasses.

Quit being a bunch of Luddites.

Seen one tree, you’ve seen them all.

Actually, the wild life likes the pipe lines. They are warm and provide a resting spot out of the cold.

Trump sees the World as an opportunist sees an open cash register. He can't fathom an environmental bubble/abberation currently friendly to human life.

One of the things republicans pretend to care about so they can defund public services.

1. I'm not a Republican, so I don't presume to state what they "pretend" to care about.

2. Since all states are required to balance their budgets, I'm thinking that's a primary concern for the Governor of Alaska. It should also be a concern of every citizen of that state.

3. I really have no idea what your blathering about "public services" is all about. I suspect you are just spouting off with nonsense.

You play dumb a lot. You are a trumpist and a republican voter. You will say you care about balanced budgets but just like a good GOPer. You dont vote for people who do.

Whether I care about balanced budgets or not is irrelevant. What don't you understand about "all states are required to balance their budgets" do you not understand?

Ask yourself, who does this plan benefit? Same thing with greenland, who would it benefit? The oil industry for one even though climate change is indeed real they still want to burn fossil fuels and pollute the planet even more. Add in cutting down the forests and who does it benefit? The logging industry. We have enough resources that we do not NEED to go into these regions but since greed is boundless...screw you citizens of america the once beautiful but if we get our way we'll leave scars all across the lands...for more money.

Point is the way you vote kinda shows your selective non point to be dishonest.

What "non point" are you referring to?

You STILL don't understand what the Governor of Alaska is facing, do you?

Yeeep because cutting down tons of trees is the only way!

shrug...

I don't know if it's the only way or not. That's why I suggest the people who live there come up with their suggestions for their Governor.
