Great story, Roseann, and it sounds like you're a wonderful parent.
But designing an education system is not about you, or your kids. It's meant to address the general needs of all kids, primarily, and, secondarily, parents. All kinds of life skills are taught in school. Not all kids will use everything they learned. But they will know enough to make the choice whether to use the things they've learned or not.
I respect how you've decided to bring up your children. But your social luddism isn't going to change the world they will inherit, or their kids will inherit (sounds like they're out of school now). This isn't brainwashing...that's silly and paranoid. It's information, and more information is always a good thing, irrespective of how one acts on it.
Thank You, sorry for not making my point clearly concerning parental influence via a personal story.
I will carify...
I think you are ignoring something important that life skills begin with parents long before a child enters school.
I noticed you placed parental influence as secondary in the school system you endorse.
imho The school system you are promoting is based on indoctrination to achieve a particular mindset for the children attending those schools to the advantage of those who want to rule over them in adulthood.
That is why I used the two examples: ages 40,
1. borg villainous hive mentality 2. brainwashing.
indoctrinate - Dictionary Definition : Vocabulary.com
If you indoctrinate someone, you teach that person a one-sided view of something and ignore or dismiss opinions that don’t agree with your view. Cults, political entities, and even fans of particular sports teams are often said to indoctrinate their followers.
If you indoctrinate someone, the goal is to have that person follow a particular set of beliefs (or a doctrine), rather than being able to think independently or know right from wrong. For example, a child may be indoctrinated into a life of violence by growing up in a war-torn region, or a student may be indoctrinated into a life as a Marxist by an influential political science professor.
I have no desire to change the world (that is the P.C. crowds agenda) or to destroy (via social luddism) the school system you endorse.
Because it will eventually destroy itself and negatively impact the children who attend them. It is already showing signs of that happening as I type this sentence.
Because human beings are not wired like worker bees. Hive-mentality is normal for bees (insects) but abnormal for human beings.
That is why the hippie communes didn't work.
The only modern example of a real and complete hive-mentality that exists today in all it's unnatural form for human beings is North Korean since the people are isolated and under complete subjucation.
That began in 1948 - Democratic People's Republic of Korea proclaimed, with Kim Il-sung installed as leader. Soviet troops withdraw.
For 71 years N.K. leaders have been indoctrinating adults and all their children born to them via N.K.'s version of political correctness mixed with fear and dread of their leaders. Leaders who expect total compliance via their educational system inside and outside of an actual schoolroom.
I agree that much information can be a good thing as long as that information is allowed to be challenged to determine whether or not it is beneficial or detrimental to children.
I'm not worried about my children ages 40,37 and 33.
So, there is no need for you to worry about their future.
They are perfectly capable of adapting to the upcoming change you predict and endorse for the world without giving up their individuality to the hive.
In the workplace they:
Get to work on time. Put in a full days work.(no need for a safe room since they don't get triggered) They listen and learn in order to achieve the requirements of the position they hold in the workplace.
And when they are compared to the triggering workers their employers will think they are a dream come true type of worker.
I don't know if you have children but if you do I will respect your decision to make the choice to put them in the futuristic school you endorse.
