Republicans say big Democratic majorities in Olympia would mean higher taxes, more regulation. The Legislature would “look like the Seattle City Council,” said state Republican Party Chairman Caleb Heimlich.

OLYMPIA — A sweeping health-care expansion. A capital-gains tax. New environmental legislation.

The prospect of large majorities in the state Legislature has some Democrats hoping they can make good on ideas they’ve long championed but have been blocked by Republicans — and fellow Democrats within their small majorities.

Last week’s primary-election returns found Democrats leading in about 20 state House and Senate races against either Republican incumbents or GOP candidates running for open seats the party had held.

Looks like the Blue Wave may be starting in the Pacific Northwest.

I would caution a lot of folks in thinking this way. If it is said too many times or if people believe "Well someone else will vote and I won't have to worry about it" then the Dems will lose big time. Instead of the message of a blue wave, I would rather see a message of voting for Dem to vote out Trump and the Republicans.

Does the San Andreas fault run up that far?

The Pacific Northwest has been so blue for decades that it looks like everyone there used Ty-D-Bowl. Maybe if we could see the same thing happening in, say, Wyoming or Montana or even North Carolina?

I'm sure that the Democrats will pick up seats due to Trump. But a blue wave? Maybe. I'd use another area of the nation to demonstrate that the blue wave is building that isn't already a blue lagoon.

Try Texas, Cruz had his hands full trying to stay ahead in the polls against a relative unknown Dem. Is happening in more than one solid Red State. November is going to be very interesting.

Gonna be interesting for sure. The GOP as a whole is going to pay hard for Trump. Even the one's that don't support him, are going to pay a price.

True, in a normal election there would be the possibility that those that distance themselves might get more support, but with the push to even out the playing field to control the President's actions few will be able to avoid the backlash. Had the GOP already in Washington shown more if a backbone things might be different, but this election will probably be very tough for GOP candidates. One reaps what they sow.

I don't know that even that would have helped.

Too late now, regardless. I would think the GOP leadership is in full panic mode at this point, they made thier bed now they get to lay in it, I have little sympathy.
