WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is claiming that California’s water policy is shortchanging firefighters of water to battle the state’s raging wildfires. That’s not so, according to wildfire and water experts.

A look at his tweets and the facts behind them:

TRUMP: “California wildfires are being magnified & made so much worse by the bad environmental laws which aren’t allowing massive amount of readily available water to be properly utilized. It is being diverted into the Pacific Ocean. Must also tree clear to stop fire spreading!” — tweet Sunday.

THE FACTS: That’s not what state experts say.

“We have plenty of water” for battling the massive blazes burning in hills north of San Francisco, said Scott McLean, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. The current spate of wildfires happens to be within range of large Northern California lakes and the state’s biggest river, McLean said.

Our President can't seem to get his facts straight. Not surprising at this point.

Trump is not interested in facts, he's interested in spinning a partisan story so his side can point fingers and not think about the actual system. Trump is the master of drama, he's the Reality-TV President, this is what he does. The Trumpeteers aren't interested in the facts either, they want the drama. For that matter, the partisans on the left want the drama too. We seem to enjoy the train wreck for whatever reason. We can point to the facts, but that will never deter Trump. He's making a story, he's making The Apprentice style drama because the drama gets people to stop thinking. And on that front, he's one of the best.

Oh you're just upset that Trump is playing 43rd dimensional chess while everyone else is playing checkers.

Water policy: The second half of Trump’s tweet appears to refer to the long-running controversy over diversion of water away from people in Northern California in order to preserve the endangered (and probably soon extinct) delta smelt.

Some Republicans in Congress have called for a larger water allocation for farmers, in California’s central valley, which has suffered from drought. Trump opened another can of worms by suggesting that this would make the water more available for firefighting efforts.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is claiming (&#*@%^$)

THE FACTS: That’s not what state experts say. ($^%@*#&)

Our President can't seem to get his facts straight. Not surprising at this point.
I've noticed that a lot of Fact Checkers don't seem to be able to get their facts straight.

Not surprising, considering their #1 priority appears to be discrediting President Trump.

Oh you're just upset that Trump is playing 43rd dimensional chess while everyone else is playing checkers.

Too bad his 43 dimensions don't include this one.

Red:
Beyond "getting his facts straight," he just doesn't give a damn what the facts are.

In Trump's mind there are two sets of facts about any given matter:
  • Existential facts
  • Trump's facts
Of the two, the first are, in Trump's reckoning, germane only when they abet a line of rhetoric that aides Trump's ends.

How to know a Trump Tweet is inaccurate:

READ IT!

Oh you're just upset that Trump is playing 43rd dimensional chess while everyone else is playing checkers.

Trump is just belittling the environmental policies put in place mainly under Obama, whom he hates. Facts don't matter with him because his spin-addled mind is already made up.

Too bad his 43 dimensions don't include this one.

Right. Trump isn't in the 'deep thinker' class. He's in the skirt-chasing philanderer class.

When there is evidence that the fact-checkers are in error, that evidence needs to be put out there in the interest of setting the record straight.

Do you think Trump would be spouting off, if the fire was in West Virginia?

Totally irresponsible behavior. Again.
