Poop. Needles. Rats. Homeless camp pushes SF neighborhood to the edge

You can bet your ass that a city with Joe Arpaio in charge wouldn't have these problems.

You didn't answer the question. Putting a convicted criminal in charge of the police force ultimately winds up with police chiefs who are convicted criminals.

One must be careful to separate the chronically homeless from the displaced homeless. A lot of these posts describe folks who habitually use drugs, who are drunks, petty criminals.

Those are the chronically homeless, or what we used to call BUMS.
This state has always had a serious problem with that group because we have such wonderful weather.
If it hit 15-20 degrees at night or lower for five months out of the year and snowed and rained at least once or twice a week with regularity, we would have a much smaller chronic homeless problem.
That's not going to go away and society doesn't really owe them much other than law enforcement incentives to get out, and basic humanitarian assistance.

But those people aren't the reason we're seeing such a huge increase in the problem. The huge increase is due to people who used to be able to afford a crummy place to live with their unskilled and low skill minimum wage jobs.
It's due to people who used to have half decent jobs, but which didn't pay Wall Street wages. They too used to be able to afford some kind of a roof.

Today's economy is terrific if you're making a lot of money.
If you're an average working stiff, it's worse than it's ever been.
Those are the people who are on the bottom, and for whom the bottom two rungs on the economic ladder have been sawed off. They are the people who need and deserve some kind of help.
We can't save everybody, we are not obligated to hand them a luxury lifestyle, just give them a chance.

We are not obligated to help bums and drunks or druggies who don't want to help themselves. That's a law enforcement problem.

But I know this:
When you see that big of a sudden increase in homelessness in a wealthy country, it's a failure of some kind but it's not the victims.
Five million people did not just decide to just become BUMS for the fun of it in the last few years. Human nature doesn't work that way, it never has.

Anyone who pretends that this is strictly a liberal problem hasn't been to the countless towns in the Rust Belt, Appalachia, Florida, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri etc which are vast stretches of opioid abuse country.

Leftists kick God out of society and bring in uncivilized human savagery to fill the void.

Obviously, people who pee in the streets are leftists.

Plus, SF can't afford the millions Joe cost Maricopa county in lawsuits.

Actually,

1. Liberals

2. Stop supporting Liberals

Who was the Republican candidate for mayor?

See, I ask because righties are always saying this, yet rarely if ever run candidates. They say it's a waste of effort, but I think they just don't want to own the problem and lose the chance to complain.

Play this song in the streets.

Repubs would have zero chance to win. Dems created the problem; they can clean it up.

So they'd do better with a Republican, yet you don't care enough to even try? This is why big cities vote Democratic - the GOP simply doesn't care about them.

I have no idea whether the Repubs would do better, but I don't think anyone could do worse.

Want to know what the Democratic Party wants for the USA just look at San Francisco. Many for the sake of equality they demand we all walk in poop and piss.

Why waste money on areas that are obvious Democrat strongholds?
The GOP cares about the cities...they just don't care to waste resources on an election that they'll lose in a landslide anyway.

Quite possibly. My point is, they have no choice. They can't do anything but vote for Democrats.

So how are the residents supposed to choose better? Yes, they vote Democrat because there is no choice. You can't just have the feds March in and install Republican regimes undemocratically.

Like I said. You guys don't care. And that's why they don't vote for you.

I don't live there. I don't care who they vote for. And I'm not sure who you mean by "you guys." I've lived in the Third World; I don't need to seek out squalor in the US.

Dude, San Francisco is one of the most liberal cities in this country. I don't think they're gonna want a Republican mayor.

That's probably true, but I think it's a great disservice to them to not have a choice. I'm not saying the party needs to devote a ton of resources, but a candidate would be nice. All they need is one resident who is a Republican.

If you don't care who they vote for, why does this thread exist? Do you normally post threads when you don't care?

One liberal member of the board of supervisors went away for a while, after trying to sell guns to terrorists. We do things differently out here potato, namely we do crazy-people-things out here.

Chronicle receives a deluge of email every day, but one message sent to the news desk on a Saturday evening in April was particularly memorable. “There is a suitcase full of human s— on the corner of Isis and 13th,” the email read. “Last night, I had to threaten violence to a man smoking crystal meth on my front porch. This morning, my 2-year-old son and I watched a rat rummage through the trash in our gutter.

This problem has been increasing in severity for years now with no end in sight. It's an embarrassment that a once great American city is now worse than many third world slums. The far left democrats who control the city (and state) offer no viable solutions. The new governor will not penalize people who defecate on the streets and side walks or openly abuse intravenous drugs. NGOs continue to incentivize the homeless to set up camp, and now the city wants to build government funded centers for addicts to use their drugs. Insanity.

What are some of the root problems of this epidemic?

What are the solutions?

Cost of living is a major culprit. People making 6 figures can't even afford rent in the area. That coupled with stagnant wages and rising costs of everything. Same problem plaguing this entire country, and most desirable cities where the cost of living is nuts

This is your city.
This is your city on Liberalism....any questions?
And here comes to complete idiocy void of any facts.

There are tons of rural ,redneck conservatives states and towns that are crumbling **** holes infested with meth and heroin addicts so please spare the dumb, childish and trolling "liberals are poopyhead" nonsense.

it's ridiculous how every forum is just full of dumb trolls and worse off, its allowed
