This is not something you see every day. Feinstein won the primary election but her party will endorse her opponent anyway.

OAKLAND, Calif. — The California Democratic Party snubbed U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein on Saturday by handing its official endorsement and a badly needed boost to state Sen. Kevin de Leon, her longshot Democratic challenger.
In backing de Leon, a majority of the party’s 360-member executive board ignored Feinstein’s calls to stay neutral in the race. Her allies had warned an endorsement would create an intraparty squabble that could detract from important down-ballot races.
De Leon has long been courting party activists and appealed to those seeking a fresh face and a more progressive senator to fight against President Donald Trump.
“Today’s vote is a clear-eyed rejection of politics as usual in Washington, D.C.,” de Leon said in a statement after the vote. “We have presented Californians with the first real alternative to the worn-out Washington playbook in a quarter-century.”. . . .

So is this guy running against Feinstein in the general election? If so will that give the republican a chance to win?

Yes, he will run against Feinstein. I'm not sure a Republican will be in the race. From the OP article:

". . . California runs a top-two primary system that sends the two highest primary vote-getters to the general election regardless of party. The system allowed de Leon to take the No. 2 spot by squeaking past a slew of unknown Republicans in the primary. . . ."

There is no Republican. California has a jungle primary system, meaning the top two vote-getters advance to face each other in the general.

The far left (I.E. Silicon Valley money), have put their money on the far left. Part of the reason is the centrist democrats are getting uncomfortable with the entire anti Trump screed driving the party further left. The reason De Leon is getting funded is that he is an anti-Trump warrior. Demographically, many moderates are moving from the bay area and LA to northern California (Feinsteins district) to escape crime, lousy schools, and a lifestyle under siege by the left, not to mention better cheaper housing.

It's all about nothing. Feinstein will win. They are listening to their own echo.

Here's a free link so you don't have to pay Jeff Bezo's a dollar to read his tripe.

And in this Western USA forum, not a peep from the California bashers concerning devastating fires in conservative congressional districts represented by Republicans.

With an incredible uptick of Global fires, all we get from Republicans is climate change denial.

Next up in time will be road washouts from heavy rains on these ‘BURN SCARS’. But yeah, **** California.

Globally fires are down.

The last three large fires have been in Democrat districts.

Greetings, Jack. :2wave:

The photos I have just seen of wildfires in California and Greece are unbelievable! While it seems that California is experiencing their usual yearly wildfires, we're much better prepared than Greece to fight back! Once again, I'm thankful that I live in NE Ohio!

The number of people in Greece hurrying to stand in the ocean to escape the fires coming at them from all directions, and seeing all the burned-out cars, homes, and acreage was very sad, especially since Greece has been living under a "Damocles Sword" type of fiscal doom with the EU for a long time - they didn't need more troubles, IMO! Frightening and distressing.....!

It pretended to get ready to rain here - sky got very dark, wind picked up, had a few lightning flashes, etc. - so we did the required necessary obeisance to higher power exercises, but I guess the rain God either liked another area better or we don't matter much! :lamo We have only had three days this month where it lightly rained for about five minutes each, and the grapes are whining about being thirsty since it has been in the high 80s - low 90s, so back to using the trusty hose using city-supplied water if there's going to be any wine-making going on around here in a few months! Shucks!
