After finishing second in votes at the state GOP convention, Romney will now face a primary in his run for the Senate seat being vacated by Orrin Hatch, Fox News reported.At the convention in West Valley City on Saturday, Romney polled just behind state lawmaker Mike Kennedy. Kennedy captured 50.18 percent of the delegate vote compared to Romney’s 49.12 percent. That means the two will face off in a primary on June 26 to determine who will represent the GOP this fall. Romney, the first Mormon to head a major party ticket, is considered an extremely popular figure in Utah and was widely expected to have an easy path to the upper chamber.

This has some interesting parallels to Obama telling Merkel that she has to save the free would now because the American people elected Trump, then Merkel soon after ran into the buzzsaw of the voters, just barely surviving in a much weakened state.

Yes, I'm sure Romney doesn't know how to get 2% more points than Kennedy who for all intents and purposes hasn't really done much in his young political career. I think you may be celebrating a little bit too early.

The number of bad takes on the UTGOP convention/Romney is overwhelming. As boring as it sounds, his loss was about an internal party disagreement over caucuses vs primaries. It has nothing to do with Trump and does not signal the end of anything (except maybe caucuses).

It's funny. Romney is still seen as the flip flopper, when Trump has flip-flopped 3000X more than Romney did, and Romney predicted this whole current Russian mess.

He's viewed as an interloper, granted with name recognition. Utahns would rather have a native son, but I guess we will find out for sure with the primaries. I wouldn't try to read too much into it yet.

Did you take note of how I claimed that Romney sucks biggly two months before he lost big to Obama, and how I was calling the entire R effort a corrupt and incompetent failure 3 years before the Arrival of Trump to steal the R party away from the old guard?

Actually, I have pretty much no interest in economic security. I think people should be hungry, they should be motivated to work their ass off to build something, to get something done. Economic insecurity brings clarity to the mind hopefully too. If you can be stupid and fail because of it maybe just maybe you dont want to be stupid.
