What Happens When Democrats Run Your State?

Sorry, but money is not my guiding force.

And I put real life experience before much of academia's liberal b.s.

Well educated people have a blend of real life and academic experience. Can't make up for the lack of either.

So, what are you trying to say -- that conservative states have better values? Democratic states expanded Medicaid, so that even the poorest had health care. Many Republican states refused to expand Medicaid, which left many in their state without access to care.

We recently witnessed an Alabama election where the Republicans were just fine with a pedaphile becoming a U.S. Senator.

States controlled by Republicans have no loss of conscience denying women of health services due to their fanaticism with getting rid of Planned Parenthood.

Sorry, Democratic controlled states display far more moral leadership than Republican controlled states -- money aside.

My is it any wonder the left has had so many men go down to sexual abuse charges....

We have a new poster a woman, and look how the left wingers here treat her....

Did not even address her posts, turned the conversation to one about Canada, even failed to answer her on the post she made about Canada law...

And you ran the most corrupt woman on the planet in 2016, and got your asses handed to you.. :lamo

The left has no manners and no morality, and this entire thread proves it.. You lefties should be ashamed.. but of course your not.. You have no shame, just your failed ideology!

It would be really silly to treat a poster on DP differently on the basis of their gender.

Do you hang up a picture of HRC in your living room and chuck darts at her face ? Also, I agree Trump won fair and square the election. However, given that Clinton one the popular vote, I wouldn't say Trump won in a landslide. It was a tight race.

Well that's a generalized statement that doesn't always ring true. The saying 'book smart, street stupid' rings true in many cases. As soon as you put that Phd behind a name, they seem to lose touch with reality of the common person.

It wasn't a term, just part of the sentence.
Not perfectly written, but I understood the exact meaning.

This was settled some time ago. There was room for misunderstanding in the sentence and Kal'Stang has acknowledged that, as did Grand Mal. Apologies were offered accepted.

I wasn't going to waste a half hour watching the whole biased video. However, the first claim it made was that 'liberal policies are causing migration from California.' As of December 2017, California Population Grew By 300K, Nears 40 Million.

Moreover, the time periods mentioned were times that California had a Republican governor and lived under conservative policies, like Proposition 13.

If that video is supposed to be evidence that liberal policies when they are enacted at the state level, the claim is an epic failure. California, if it were a country, would have the sixth largest economy in the world and has a population that is generally content. It is also a state that contributes more than it receives from the federal government. Which are the states that receive more from the federal government? Those are generally the red states, that hate the federal government.

Let's bump this one from 01/23; it's time for this discussion.
Let's have all the states get back as much as they give Uncle Sam; seems only fair huh?
Sounds like the essence of the 10th amendment, State's Rights, not states being wronged.
(Good to see you girl) ...

To be fair, all states cannot afford equally. Mississippi isn’t New York. I don’t mind helping the poor states. What I mind is those state’s right wing rhetoric complaining about the “takers” when they’re the takers.

The best places in the world to live are run by liberals.
What a shame, such a failure on your first post.

No.

Liberals took what conservatives made great. Oregon was made great by conservative thinkers, and is now being run into the ground like California.

If it is such a bad place to live, why to one in 10 Americans live there?

Why is there such a growing effort of Californians wanting to break away from the leftists and create a new state? Evidently they think as things stand now it isn't such a great place to live.

Cool.
Funny how a simple point of punctuation can make such a difference.

It does make a huge difference. THink of the difference between 'Let's go eat, Grandma', and 'Let's go eat grandma'.

One is going out to dinner, and the other is being a cannibal.

This is why FDR warned against public sector unions.

Pension Nightmare for California's Cities Getting Scarier
Sacramento Bee

After years of denial, California’s cities are finally waking up to their pension nightmare. Unfortunately, now the crisis is so dire that there are no painless choices left. To keep up with ballooning pension payments, cities soon will have to raise taxes or cut services, or both.
Loudly sounding the alarm, the League of California Cities reported this month that most members expect pension costs to jump by at least 50 percent by 2024-25. Pension payments – now about 11 percent of general fund budgets on average – will eat up about 16 percent by then. That doesn’t include increases in retiree health care costs and other benefits. In extreme cases, the pension burden could lead to more bankruptcy filings like Stockton’s and San Bernardino’s in 2012.
In response, the league is advising cities to consider local tax measures and to negotiate with labor unions to get employees to pay more into their own pensions. That’s easier said than done, of course, especially since local unions are often powerful, well-funded political players. . . .

Perhaps the people should vote on public union contracts. Or make it illegal for unions to fund campaigns in any manner.

You're going to stay in Nevada - right?

6th largest economy in the world and a place that everybody wants to live in... we're doing fine.

Used to be 5th and California started losing population.

Such beautiful scenery and the liberals have just ruined the State of California.

I haven’t watched the entire video yet, but one thing is that the population is holding steady. Fineso far, except the middle class is leaving and poor low skill immigrants are coming in to replace them and eating the welfare budget alive. Poor, low skill legal and illegal residents from all over the USA.

The public unions control or otherwise pass judgement on every piece of legislation that moves. They are the sole source of big chunks of political money. Legislative members have to decide if opposing a bill that doesn’t put public union’s interest at the head of the line is worth their political future.

An interesting side story is that some northern counties are refusing to enforce state immigration “exceptions”, and will honor federal laws. So we will see how that plays out. And Gov Brown is termed out and it is an open question as to whether Californians are happy with the status quo. Certain polls say they aren’t.

If you have owned your house for a long time and your neighborhood is good, you are OK assuming your kids schools are OK. It’s new families that are leaving for better (non-STEM) jobs. Income tax is strongly progressive. IOW, taxes aren’t too bad until you start makeing solid middle class money, then it’s BOHICA time.

So it’s a mixed bag depending on your circumstances.

My late mother lived in Prescott, AZ for thirty years. Toward the end she was increasingly irritated "by all the California refugees."

The Mercatus Center was founded by Richard Fink, the former executive Vice President of Koch Industries, owned by the Koch brothers.

Again, they are right wing.

I'd suggest washing that sock you responded to if you ever want to use it again.

Very true. CA has a lot to offer, bu you have to make a lot of money to live really well there. Most areas require trade offs. The more people that want to go to an area, the more competition... Some can't handle competition. I refused a job offer there (Redwood City) because they wouldn't give me the 30% raise that moving and living there entailed. 20% didn't cut it.
