They can start by decently paying and equipping a forestry service to regularly maintain their woodlands. This would also include teaching young kids that college is not the only option and that these are good careers that pay.
That is what they have been complaining about for years, that not only has spending on management of the forests has been massively slashed (60ish% as I recall inflation adjusted) but they never know how much they have because they never know how much fires will cost and when you dont know your budgets year to everything is significantly more expensive because you cant buy on long term contracts or sometimes any contracts at all so the situation is even worse than it looks.
That is the national problem, been talked about for a lot of years but never fixed...... I am pretty sure California is set up the same way, we should check but I am about to launch a party with some of my old empolyees so not today for me.
