Until a few weeks ago, I had never heard of Devin Nunes. He seems to have been representing this district since 2003. My question is "Which qualities have gotten this man to the office he holds?" My first impressions are not favorable, but all I have to gauge him with, is his appearances on various news outlets regarding visits to the White House, that on the surface made no sense. What does he bring to you, his constituents? He comes off lacking the necessary skills, to my untrained eye. What am I missing?

He's one of the few conservatives left in the part of California that is ignored by the left since it's mostly minorities, conservatives, and other riff raff working the land. They don't get invited to Bay Area fund raisers so you don't hear much about them. And don't look for a place to plug in your Tesla in Fresno. Wrecking yards, they got as wages have been falling and poverty increasing for ten years.

Aside from that he's one of the few conservatives still standing, which is a skill in and of itself. Right now he's in the bulls eye for not spiking the investigation into intelligence agencies going rogue and getting into the business of choosing America's political winners and losers. The result of this so far is to wipe the smile off Rep. Adam Schiff's face, and dampen the drumbeat of accusations that Trump is a Russian spy, and turn the fire hose of light and truth on the Obama Administration.

The last I check he had a net worth of ~ $85K, so it can be inferred that he's not on the take like most politicians.

So aside from that, he's one of the last honest men standing in California and the DNC is after his scalp.

BTW, I'm not one of his constituents, but I sold for years in his territory and he is well regarded by people I associated with.

My research on Congressional pay for the year 2003 came up with $154700.00 per year. For the sake of the arguement let's say no raise in ten years or so Nunes has served. Smells fishy to me, 1.5 million in pay and less than 100k in net worth? And he has a say in taxpayer's money?

my point of your posting, if you remove the name, could be associated with so many people in congress.
Name and district were included. Thanks, don't tear the rice paper!

No, it's not 'ignored' by the left. What an odd and inaccurate statement.

What smile is that? The investigations are continuing, and nothing has changed, despite the little side-show that Nunes tried and failed at.

LOL! There's nothing particularly honest about him as his recent actions have clearly demonstrated, and the DNC is after every GOP candidates seat; one would think that to be so obvious as to not even need mentioning.

We'll see come election time.

PACs[edit]
Although he ran unopposed in 2016, Nunes received over $1.6 million in campaign contributions.[28] During the 2014 election, he received approximately $1.4 million in PAC contributions.[29] In 2016, he received $40,000 in PAC contributions from Beer, Wine and Liquor interests and over $184,000 in PAC contributions from insurance interests.[30]
