The reports I've heard/seen state that Trump administration is considering sending more troops to fight the resurgent Taliban. The number seems awfully small, 1500 is three battalions. What impact can they have. Any idea of what sort of troops? Infantry or other support? We never have been able to train another country's army to fight for their own cause successfully.
I understand that DJT is ceding more control/authority to the military. This makes me wonder if the CinC has the backbone or strategy necessary to send troops into harms way. As I had stated in another thread, three different powers have tried to use their military in Afghanistan, and so far none have had much success, including the US. More blood and treasure after what we've already spent in those currencies. No decent choices here.

The fact here is, you only really hear of the failures and not the successes.

India, Philippines, South Korea, Afghanistan, Panama, El Salvador, Columbia, Kuwait, Qatar, Morocco, Nigeria, Central African Republic, the list goes on and on. Many they have trained and left, others they are still there.

Ah, the Global War On Terror, the gift that keeps on giving for war profiteers, has now lasted longer than all 20th century wars combined. Surely, Mission Accomplished for those who profit from war.

Actually there IS a decent choice, but it would take a brave and principled leader to do it. Get the **** out of that place, support our troops and bring them home to defend this country.
