Cannabis smokers may be 2.5 times more likely to suffer a stroke 'because compounds in the drug

i have some spearmint infused coconut oil that i subsequently infused with cannabis for vaping, for a few months now. it seems ok. i also still smoke cannabis.

Excuse me, what are you doing?
I said that I took issue with this specific study, just this one.
To be specific, when NIH says that cannabis is a vasodilator, I tend to trust NIH a little more, because they are NIH.
The National Institutes of Health have been right a lot more than they've ever been wrong about matters of health.
It is a known fact that cannabanoids dilate blood vessels, they don't constrict them.
That is why your eyes turn red if you're too stoned.

So, thank you so much for attempting to label me as some authoritarian Know Nothing issuing fatwahs against scientists I disagree with and thank you for the attempted climate science hijack.

But we WERE talking about weed and the fact that saying weed is a high risk for stroke is NONSENSE if based on studies of people who drink heavily and are tobacco users.
So, did you want to go back to talking about weed or are you determined to drag me into a climate science discussion now...on THIS thread?

Are you a marijuana user? Have you ever been one? If so, when?
All government funded science should be looked at skeptically.

Cannabis smokers may be two-and-a-half times more likely to suffer a stroke | Daily Mail Online

Stroke increased 2.5 times for people who smoked cannabis three times a week
Users who also smoked cigarettes or vaped saw stroke risk spike by three-fold
Researchers say doctors must warn cannabis smokers of this risk in future

Smoking cannabis more than doubles your chance of suffering a stroke, a new study has found. Researchers looked at more than 40,000 adults aged between 18 and 44 over a year-long period. They found those who used cannabis more than three times a week were two-and-a-half times more likely to have a stroke compared to non-smokers. Cannabis users who also smoked cigarettes or used vape products had triple the risk compared to non-users.
====================================================
Nothing in this world is risk free.

I'm sure the study says more than the article, but a 1 year study rarely produces much more than anecdotal evidence. The article cherry picks.

Stroke Rates Higher Among Pot Users

From last year:

Stroke Rates Higher Among Pot Users

As the use of marijuana is growing, with Canada legalizing the drug just this week, a new study that ties pot to a raised risk for stroke might give users pause.

The risk for any stroke could increase by 15 percent and it could jump 29 percent for an ischemic stroke -- the most common kind, said lead investigator Dr. Krupa Patel. She is a research physician at Avalon University School of Medicine in Willemstad, Curacao. Patel cautioned that the study can't prove that using marijuana causes strokes, only that the two are associated.

Just out of curiosity, did you read the last sentence of your post?

1. It's wonderful that recreational users are no longer thrown into jail and fired from their livelihoods.

a. That was so cruel.

2. But I hope that some people will think carefully before they use that substance for recreation.

a. I have read that some scientists feel that the long-term effects of it are not known.

b. I think that parents, for example, should seriously consider gently and kindly advising their children NOT to regularly indulge in it. I realize that peer pressure is intense, but maybe they can limit its use to parties. Few teenagers, of course, have the guts to say: "No, thanks. I am not interested in smoking that."

So why are you injecting "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!" when we're talking about a legal product USED BY and meant only for ADULTS?

Heavy Marijuana Use Could Double Stroke Risk for Young People, Study Suggests | Live Science

For those who used marijuana frequently and also smoked cigarettes or e-cigarettes, the risk was even greater.

This is from today:

Young people who use marijuana frequently are more than twice as likely to have a stroke compared to those who don't use the drug at all, according to a new study.

The findings, which will be presented next week at the annual American Heart Association (AHA) Scientific Sessions meeting in Philadelphia, add to a growing body of research linking marijuana use to an increased risk of cardiovascular problems. The new study, which will also be published in an upcoming issue of the journal Stroke, is one of the first to specifically focus on the risk of stroke in young cannabis users (under age 45).

There are problems with that study. 1) IT's self reported 2) It goes along with heavy drinking, and heavy smoking of cigaretttes.

You can say 'An unhealthy lifestyle' with those parms

Pot = INCREDIBLY dangerous/addictive

I think that it is accurate to say that many non-adults are smoking marijuana.

If you go to any high school, I think that many students would agree with my guess.

So we should start educating "children" now so that they will be able to make an informed decision when they become adults as to whether they should smoke it.

The researchers claim that they adjusted for smoking cigs and drinking heavily.
Sorry, but at some point, there is no "adjusting" to the point where you can definitively label a stroke as ONLY cannabis related or having nothing to do with alcohol or other drug abuse.

Study smells bogus as hell and smacks of propaganda.

For government operations like the war on drugs and war on terror, propaganda must be delivered 24/7 to sustain the illusion.

Are you attempting to imply that legalization is backed by people who want children to use it?
What ARE you attempting to say?
You KNOW that we inform children about the danger of using substances and you know that we warn against it, and against drinking the same way.
Many non-adults are always doing things that they shouldn't, and if they are caught, they wind up in the juvenile justice system, so what are you trying to say here, specifically?
