How to Invest in Cannabis

Cannabis was just one of the hot topics (Thursday April 17) during Cramer Live with Jim Cramer, TheStreet's Founder and Action Alerts Plus Portfolio Manager.

A little background: Canopy Growth Corp. (CGC - Get Report) confirmed plans to buy U.S.-based Acreage Holdings (ACRGF Thursday (April 18, 2019) once and if cannabis is made federally legal in the United States in a deal that values the group at around $3.4 billion. This could be like the days of buying Apple, Microsoft & Amazon at $3/share.

It's an existing market turning legal. Easy money.

Risky but low risk. I would not bet the ranch in this sector just yet. But the rich & powerful are behind it & you know what that means.

When the rich let you in it’s a suckers bet because they want out. Just like ethanol in California. Politicians kids accumulated
the shares, let them run up on “the next best thing”, the market got saturated as the public wanted in. The public bought their shares and lost their asses.

Exactly what moat do they have around their products. Not sure growing this stuff in Canada is ideal. Market cap above $15 billion on no profits.

I am going to stick with cloud based software. That is still an untapped market.
