Campaigner Emma Appleby was stopped with £4,500 worth of cannabis oil for her daughter

The mother of a nine-year-old girl with severe epilepsy wept as she had an illegal supply of medical cannabis confiscated by customs officials after entering the UK with the potentially life-saving medication that her daughter cannot access, despite changes in the law.

Campaigner Emma Appleby flew to the UK from Holland on Saturday morning carrying three months’ worth of cannabis oil, valued at £4,500, for her daughter Teagan, who has a rare chromosomal disorder as well as Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, which causes up to 300 seizures a day.

Medical cannabis may now be legal in the U.K. but smuggling any form of Cannabis into the U.K. is still against the law.

And I thought the US was regressive on drug policy. At least you have states which legalized it.
 
War on Drugs: an endless source of pointless misery.

But if we Americans are good at anything, it's doing something extremely costly, utterly ineffective, and doing it proudly because we're standing against something we say is morally wrong.

that's sick. i can see someone not wanting the entire country to be flooded with opioids and meth, but when cancer patients have to be in pain or kids have to suffer from epilepsy just because other people are stupid, it makes me very angry.
 
There is legal medical marijuana. It is called Marinol.

That is just THC.

CBD, especially in combination with THC, is generally more useful for most medicinal purposes. There are also a whole bunch of psychoactive and not-studied but potentially psychoactive chemical in marijuana flower (aka "bud"), or in full spectrum edibles/distillates/etc
