2M2B - A little known (& so far legal) intoxicant

Available from commercial sources on the Internet, this little known & rarely discussed intoxicant/hypnotic/depressant is an alcohol substitute for the common ethanol sold in liquor stores. Unlike ethanol, which is a primary alcohol that gets metabolized to toxic acetaldehyde in the liver, 2M2B is a tertiary alcohol that cannot be metabolized in the same manner. It therefore is both more potent on a weight/dose basis & likewise much longer lasting. It is also dangerous in terms of being deadly at high doses & can interact with other CNS depressants like alcohol & benzodiazepines to cause potentially deadly consequences.

One site on the Web that reports sales figures shows that bottles of 2M2B have sold over 300 times, so this stuff is real.

This stuff (of which I have had no personal experience) is said to smell like gasoline & to taste like camphor, with unpleasant taste & repeated burping up to renew that flavor. I believe that an alternative route of administration would be in suppository form, as it can likely be absorbed through the lining of the rectum. Suppository making kits are available on the internet.

As someone who's suffered a few killer hangovers back-in-the-day, I can't imagine the misery of a "much longer lasting" hangover!

The nice thing about 2M2B is that there is no acetaldehyde & thus no hangover. One drawback is that you might sleep for 24 hours. My problem with that is injuring myself when I have to get up & use the bathroom at night. I've had my share of nasty falls & that gets stale.

Seriously, as it doesn't affect the liver the way ethanol/acetaldehyde do, it could be an option for an alcoholic who is forced to stop drinking ethanol.

I was simply speaking of alcoholics in general terms. They can abstain, but they shouldn't be taking psychoactive substances. It can set them off for a drinking spree they don't want to be doing.

Bourbon and honey are so much nicer.
...and every time I go to Galveston, I like to drink those gay, girly, colorful fruity drinks.
but always in the hotel bar. They tend to kick my ass.

I drove through Galveston years ago. Read the Psychonaut-Wiki article I posted. This stuff seems to be a powerful alternative to ethanol without the toxic acetaldehyde.

One reason I don't miss my drinking days.

I get SAVAGE and I mean SAVAGE hangovers, whole day write-off and then still a bit groggy the day after that level hangovers.

That's the acetaldehyde produced as the ethanol is metabolized. It is very toxic. If you drink beer you can smell the acetaldehyde when you urinate. It has a distinctive sweetish odor. With 2M2B there is no acetaldehyde. Problem with it is it lasts so long because there is a different mechanism for its metabolism in the liver that takes much longer to get rid of it.

Regarding hangovers, the congeners that give different liquors their characteristic tastes & smells are a mish-mash of things like ketones & heterocycles that create their own toxicity when they are metabolized. They add to the hangover. I only drink Polish potato vodka, triple distilled. Basically it is alcohol & water, so hangover effects are minimized.

It bypasses the liver completely,
has more kick, and no hangovers.

...but it might also get you kicked out of the bar.
...depending on which bar and where.

Tolerance and addiction potential

As with any other GABA receptor agonist, repeated use and increasing tolerance will eventually result in a withdrawal syndrome upon abrupt discontinuation resembling alcohol, barbiturate, or benzodiazepine withdrawal, up to and including delirium tremens ("the shakes"). The chronic use of this compound can be considered moderately addictive with a high potential for abuse and is capable of causing psychological dependence among certain users. When addiction has developed, cravings and withdrawal effects may occur if a person suddenly stops their usage.

An enema with 2M2B is possible but you'd have to hold it for a while until you start to feel its effects which shouldn't be long. Again, I have no experience here so this is all hypothetical.
