prisons are not filled with drug addicts. The overwhelming majority of drug users charged with simple possesion are put in diversion plans. Saying prisons are filled with drug addicts (meaning their only charge is possession) is just a fallacy that democrats use to push an agenda.

and what agenda would that be

"More than half (56% or 6,300) of female federal prisoners were serving sentences for a drug offense, compared to 47% of males (75,600)."...

"Among sentenced prisoners under the jurisdiction of state correctional authorities on December 31, 2015, 15% (197,200 prisoners) had been convicted of a drug offense as their most serious crime: 96,907 of them for drug trafficking or manufacture (51.6% of the total), 296 for drug possession (0.16% of the total), and 11 for "other"* drug offenses."...

Of the 3,789,800 adults on probation in the US at the end of 2015, 25% (approximately 947,450 people) had a drug charge as their most serious offense.

Saying the prison, jail and probation system is full of addicts does not mean possession charge only.

I willing to bet humans have died throughout history using drugs or something of the sort. Not sure what type of documentation we’ll find on that.

What’s the difference in deaths from ODing due to ignorance vs. addiction? I bet addiction has the larger portion. Or at least multiple uses gradually increasing if not reaching “addiction.”

As for humans managing to survive thousands of years, is it possible not all humans like mind altering drugs? Not to say if you do, you’ll die, but just because prohibition exists, do sit mean everyone was going around doing drugs before prohibition.

As for teaching, sure there’s a number of ways to teach, but only those that want to learn will try to learn. Just like alcohol, even with almost infinite resources to learn from, people are still ignorant and people will directly go passed the levels of safety. Humans also seem to like thrills including death defying things.

Does prohibition result in less damage than legalization? Every opinion on that is subjective because there is no real way to find out. We do know that the problem of drug violence, death, etc, existed before prohibition. that rule was introduced because of those problems, now its difficult to go back or the results without prohibition are actually worse. Could very well be the reasons why prohibition may have been the right call decades ago have changed for today, and we’d actually be better off without prohibition, not sure.

I also disagree that no one bats an eye. MSM has their agenda. Attacking alcohol legality isnt part of it. Search for anti alcohol advocates, you’ll find it. Search for pro drug legalization or continued prohibition advocates, you’ll find it.

Not quite. In California, they are in prison for bigger drug related crimes or plea bargains from offing a competing dealer down to possession for sales.

Drug use and the scarcity of money growing on trees to support a drug lifestyle is the problem.

What do you think we should do with drug dealers?
