Lately, it's been convenient — and self-serving to some — to call what is going on with the Trump administration a coup. It's a "soft coup" or a "silent coup" or a wish-it-were-a-coup. Let's take a look at what that means. According to all definitions I can find, a coup is a sudden, often violent overthrow of a government. Every time I look up the definition of a coup, I get something like this from Merriam-Webster: "a sudden decisive exercise of force in politics." But there is nothing sudden about this. Have you ever thought, "What would a modern civil war look like?" Tanks rolling down the streets of Washington, D.C.? Missiles targeting the Congress? Armed forces storming the White House or Capitol Building? None of these would accomplish anything. So what would a modern-day civil war look like?
This is about who will run our government. Will it be those duly elected by the people and states, or will it be by the fiat and caprice of those who see themselves as smarter and more relevant than the rest of us? Again, think of what a modern civil war would look like. There is no way a modern civil war would ever be fought against the most powerful military force in the history of mankind. No, it will come from within. As Khrushchev said, our nation will fall from within ("Your own working class will bury you," 1963), and communists will prevail as a result. That is what we are witnessing: a civil war, not a coup.

Comment:
if the People gathered in large numbers at DC, as they did in September 2009 and proclaimed, “We have had it. We do not consent to be governed by this corrupt mess—we are here and will exercise our right to install a new government By And For The People.”
All PMS/DSA Democrat Leftists are guilty of conspiracy to overthrow the elected government. Such action means they have forfeited their position in government. They are guilty of Sedition, and last I remember, the penalty and punishment for sedition/treason was a firing squad.
The PMS/DSA Democrat Left could not care less about the Constitutionalists of the United States as shown y their Marxist show trials in Congress. That makes this a war.
What would happen? It is our legal right to do that isn’t it? Would the Progressive Marxist Socialist/DSA Democrats use swat or military against us?
The overthrown happened on Usurpation Day, January 20, 2009 when Obama proclaimed the "Fundamental Transformation of America" It culmination with the rejection of that statement with the election of Donald J. Trump on November 9, 2016 because PMS/DSA Democrats lost the presidential election.
There is no secret that PMS?DSA Democrat Leftists are sitting on a powder keg in almost every blue plantation city they control.
A predicate to Civil War is the reality that the population no longer shares a common consensus of cultural values and beliefs that once united it. America has been divided in many ways and there is little or no common ground between the huge gaps. What decent minded conservative can break bread with a wild eyed, pro abortion, hedonistic, decadent Marxist Socialist? Would you want such a person to enter your home? About 20-30% of the population has values, beliefs and opinions that are an anathema to decent people. Violence will occur when frustration boils over and decent folk are injured by the decadents.
"They were at war with us, but we were not yet at war with them". ~ 9/11 Commission -- Certainly applies to the Marxists Socialists in our midst.

Trash talk from a trash blog.

The only people who are talking about “civil wars” and “coups” are the reactionary right wing.

And civil war has always been a popular right wing trope. Right wingers have made noises like this in every presidential election in this century.

I hope they bring enough tampons and candy this time period

lol

When you look at the emotion-wrought, out-of-control rhetoric of the GOP in Congress, one can see why people would think this.

If these characters made standing up for the rule of law bi-partisan and looked at the other side as opponents to be debated not as enemies to be destroyed, it would be much different.

It's not a coup. It's a civil war.

It's neither. It's a constitutional process. Words mean things.

You dare act like you are decent? :lamo

Oh, yeah go ahead and start a civil war over a jackass who grabs ***** and belittles his own daughter as a "piece of ass" and who he would date if she wasn't his daughter. A man who cheats at everything and acts more like a preschool bully than a decent man. Keep on defending that as decent.

For those who so quickly forgot: #SecondCivilWarLetters was a meme last summer.

Those of us who know better than to waste their time on anonymous made up trash on Twitter were not aware of that.

Second civil war is a popular right wing trope.

Nobody talks about it other than the fringe of the limbaugh loonies. It even has its own pulp literature genre. The little bit of that I’ve encountered over the years drips with open racism and white supremacism.
