Statement by Attorney General William P. Barr on the Inspector General's Report of the Review of Four FISA Applications and Other Aspects of the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane Investigation

Attorney General William P. Barr issued the following statement:

"Nothing is more important than the credibility and integrity of the FBI and the Department of Justice. That is why we must hold our investigators and prosecutors to the highest ethical and professional standards. The Inspector General’s investigation has provided critical transparency and accountability, and his work is a credit to the Department of Justice. I would like to thank the Inspector General and his team.

The Inspector General’s report now makes clear that the FBI launched an intrusive investigation of a U.S. presidential campaign on the thinnest of suspicions that, in my view, were insufficient to justify the steps taken. It is also clear that, from its inception, the evidence produced by the investigation was consistently exculpatory. Nevertheless, the investigation and surveillance was pushed forward for the duration of the campaign and deep into President Trump’s administration. In the rush to obtain and maintain FISA surveillance of Trump campaign associates, FBI officials misled the FISA court, omitted critical exculpatory facts from their filings, and suppressed or ignored information negating the reliability of their principal source. The Inspector General found the explanations given for these actions unsatisfactory. While most of the misconduct identified by the Inspector General was committed in 2016 and 2017 by a small group of now-former FBI officials, the malfeasance and misfeasance detailed in the Inspector General’s report reflects a clear abuse of the FISA process.

FISA is an essential tool for the protection of the safety of the American people. The Department of Justice and the FBI are committed to taking whatever steps are necessary to rectify the abuses that occurred and to ensure the integrity of the FISA process going forward.

No one is more dismayed about the handling of these FISA applications than Director Wray. I have full confidence in Director Wray and his team at the FBI, as well as the thousands of dedicated line agents who work tirelessly to protect our country. I thank the Director for the comprehensive set of proposed reforms he is announcing today, and I look forward to working with him to implement these and any other appropriate measures.

With respect to DOJ personnel discussed in the report, the Department will follow all appropriate processes and procedures, including as to any potential disciplinary action."

You can bet if the subject of the investigation was anyone other than Trump, there would be no investigation, and if there was, it would say "no problem".

If Durham doesn’t deliver, there is always all that dirt that Rudy is sailing home with.........enough to start a large farm, I hear.

We all know that Rudy is playing the part of a crossdresser while in Ukraine because Trump can't date him anymore...

I hope DoJ is collecting up passports of suspects.

Reading the Horowitz report, Trump was “Swatted” with a phony report as a pretext to investigate everyone in the Trump orbit, just like SWAT is called as a prank or revenge. In Trumps case a flimsy report was good enough to start a wholesale operation against him because he was not their candidate.

And Obama is up to his neck in it.

BTW, interestingly, I recall recently Barr ordering the federal death penalty to be reinstated.

Somebody should swing.

Durham's authority supersedes Horowitz's contrary to the lies we are reading on the DP forum today.

We got a small taste this morning, when US Attorney Durham said,
“I have the utmost respect for the mission of the Office of Inspector General and the comprehensive work that went into the report prepared by Mr. Horowitz and his staff,” Durham said. “However, our investigation is not limited to developing information from within component parts of the Justice Department. Our investigation has included developing information from other persons and entities, both in the U.S. and outside of the U.S.”

LOL Barr disagrees with the IG's findings, Big surprise. I say if 100's of contacts with Russian operatives by members of Trump's campaign is not a reason for the FBI to investigate why do we even have an FBI?

Durham's own opinions mean absolutely nothing. We still have the rule of law in this country and only evidence can indict and convict our citizens. As far as foreign witnesses are concerned no one with ties to Putin have any credibility here.

Spin back to the "Russian Collusion".... Boring! Try again please

Mueller Report, Volume I, page 66, second paragraph:
[In particular,] the investigation examined whether these contacts involved or resulted in coordination or a conspiracy with the
Trump Campaign and Russia, including with respect to Russia providing assistance to the Campaign in exchange for any sort of favorable treatment in the future. Based on the available information, the investigation did not establish such coordination.

Big fat question? Does this statement apply to the president? :lamo

Dam, just, dam.........:screwy

Don't tell our DP Trump haters. They are running around crazy right now with glee.........
Little do they know more disappointment is coming their way! :doh :peace

I remember when you believed everything AG Holder said and everything AG Lynch said.

Let's see Barr's evidence. Or what "disappointment" you say is coming. Share your insider secrets.

Big fat question? Does this statement apply to the president? :lamo

Of course it does and the evidence that he tried to coerce Ukraine into helping him in the 2020 election is overwhelming and undisputed.

You're calling for the death of Barack Obama.

This post needs to be reported to the FBI.

Oh please...

Knowledge is your friend...

"As Horowitz has conducted his review of DOJ actions during the Russia probe, Durham, the U.S. attorney for Connecticut, has also been conducting a wider inquiry into alleged misconduct and alleged improper government surveillance on the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential election.

Fox News reported in October that Durham's ongoing probe has transitioned into a full-fledged criminal investigation"

And this ladies and gents is where the constitutional crisis comes to the point of no return. When we have the Attorney General in direct conflict with the laws that the FBI have adhered to since 9/11, the same laws that the AG wants to unwind, then we're talking major damage to our democracy.

I'll be waiting for any evidence that appears out of the Durham/Barr fiasco. As of now they have nothing. I sure hope they don't try to pass off info from Russian stooges as credible but anything is possible with Trump. Guilliani seems to think Shokin is a credible witness.

IG Report: Here Are The 17 Specific ‘Inaccuracies And Omissions’ In The FBI’s FISA Warrants Against Carter Page

IG Report: Here Are The 17 Specific ‘Inaccuracies And Omissions’ In The FBI’s FISA Warrants Against Carter Page | The Daily Wire
A lot is being written about the Department of Justice Inspector General’s (IG) report about the FBI’s abuse of the FISA application process to obtain warrants to spy on Carter Page, a former Trump campaign aide. Talking heads will quibble about whether this exonerates or implicates the FBI under the Obama administration and whether it supports or refutes President Donald Trump and his supporters’ claims of Deep State meddling.

But Michael Horowitz’s IG report lays out a whopping 17 “inaccuracies and omissions” that were not brought to the attention of the Office of Intelligence prior to the fourth and last FISA application being filed in June 2017. Further, National Security Division (NSD) officials were not even aware of the issues when they prepared and reviewed the first FISA application, meaning at the very least, due diligence was not performed. Seven of the inaccuracies and omissions related to the first FISA application, and these errors were carrier in the three subsequent applications, along with additional errors. Below are the seven specific inaccuracies and omissions from the first application:

I wouldn't say that he "called bull****" on the report but he sure does seem to disagree with at least some of the conclusions.

To be fair, he makes note that his investigation is not constrained by the same parameters as the IG report.

I agree, and in a sense the IG is providing some discovery for Durham.

Durham's own opinions mean absolutely nothing. We still have the rule of law in this country and only evidence can indict and convict our citizens. As far as foreign witnesses are concerned no one with ties to Putin have any credibility here.

Obviously a standard the democrats don’t care to apply to Trump.
