Conservatives were the ones fighting to continue owning slaves in the first place. The Republican Party was viewed as wild eyed liberal radicals in the 1860s. The fact that conservatives can’t seem to grasp these really basic facts is rather funny.

Partisan political division and the resulting incivility has reached a low in America, with 67% believing that the nation is nearing civil war, according to a new national survey.
"The majority of Americans believe that we are two-thirds of the way to being on the edge of civil war. That to me is a very pessimistic place," said Mo Elleithee, the executive director of Georgetown University’s Institute of Politics and Public Service. And worse, he said in announcing the results of the institute’s Battleground Poll, the political division is likely to make the upcoming 2020 presidential race the nastiest in modern history.

I am completely amazed that 67% actually get this. Recognizing it is a good sign... And I highly doubt they are blaming Trump... Just a gut feeling.
Once ballot harvesting became prevalent, I cannot consider any California elections legitimate. There are no reasons for any republican to contest any elections there, it's a Soviet system where all political reps are appointed behind closed doors and elections are a fiction.
If that poll does not convince you, see the poll showing a majority of millennials want to amend the first amendment to make hate speech a crime. Nothing short of institutionalized deprogramming can change their "minds."
I'm looking forward to the 2020 presidential campaign, when the Progressive Marxist Socialist/DSA Democrat nominee runs on being a "Unifier" because Trump has been "the most divisive president in history". (sarc) I've been watching the cultural vandalism of the PMS/DSA Left and the sickening passivity and collusion of the Right for too long. I've had it. The Left has made it abundantly, redundantly and graphicly clear that they not only refuse to coexist with us, but are actively interested in wiping us out -- metaphorically and literally. the progression of events tips more people into reality every day.
I am going to go against the grain here and assert that this is new awakening as to where we are actually 'is' Trump's fault. If he didn't piss in the punch bowl and expose them (or, more accurately, make them over-correct and expose themselves in a panic), the huge problems and massive damage the PMS/DSA Leftists did to American liberty and economics wouldn't be so public and it wouldn't have been embedded into so many people's minds.
Trump did nothing wrong, but I think that if he hadn't won, this survey would have had a 'very' different outcome. The circumstances would have been so different that I suspect the question wouldn't have even surfaced.
Trump's biggest value has been unmasking the corruption in our country, and by getting re-elected will provide four more years for those of us who know the score to prepare and organize. The PMS/DSA Democrat Leftists continue to seek to appease their crocodile (their rabid commie base) either without understanding the much bigger crocodile they are antagonizing in so doing or by thinking their paid liars within the biased media can convince it not to eat them. They can't and it will. There will be blood if they don't get a handle on themselves.
