MSNBC Panelist On Most White People: ‘Destroy Them’

Interesting. They/he just meant...and so the spin begins.
Trump just meant...when he talked about ILLEGAL immigration, not all brown people.
Lets go spinning. I hear it is good exercise.

The takeaway for all parties is to avoid sweeping polemics based on remarks taken out of context.

To @Doc91478's many critics: recall this thread the next time you find yourself waving your hands and talking about "dog whistles", "what he's really saying is...", etc., or deliberately omitting context to reason around what was actually said. You're not fooling anybody.

Yep, that in context is certainly possible, yet "...do whatever you have to do. You do not negotiate with these people, You Destroy Them." could certainly be taken differently.

Pep rallies sometimes sound like this. The terms got pretty violent in my high school if you take them literally.

OK, but if one "fan" did take them literally, and commits an act of violence (citing one or more of those "terms"), are the leaders of the "pep rally" to be held accountable?

Nobody can control stupid. I don't think the El Paso shooting was Trump's fault, but I do think he needs to condemn white supremacy in his own words, not just in a wooden reading from a teleprompter. I think he needs to follow through with more rhetoric about how we are all one country, and an attack on some of us is an attack on all. I think he needs to act like a true head of state and not a partisan hack.

I almost completely agree, but why condemn any single motive for committing violent crime rather than any and all such motives? Far more folks are killed by street gang crime than by white supremacist crime.
