Baltimore Named Nation’s Most Dangerous City By USA Today

Baltimore Named Nation’s Most Dangerous City By USA Today – CBS Baltimore
Feb 19, 2018
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — USA Today has named Baltimore the most dangerous city in the country. The paper analyzed police crime data in the nation’s 50 biggest cities, which revealed Baltimore had the highest per capita murder rate in the nation with nearly 56 murders per 100,000 people — a record for the city. The rate outpaced New Orleans and Detroit, with a rate of 40 and 39 killings per 100,000 people, respectively. Baltimore’s 342 murders in 2017 was an increase from 318 in 2016. Baltimore — the most populated city in Maryland with more than 615,000 residents — had more homicides last year than Philadelphia, Los Angeles and New York City...

Comment:
I went there for a conference a several years ago. Outside the inner harbor area, the place is a cesspool. I will never go back for any reason. Side note: One of the things I noticed was that there was not a regular grocery store anywhere to be found in area immediately surrounding that inner harbor area. None. Just quickie shops where you can get the standard 7-11 kind of fare.
Baltimore has more murders than NYC. NYC has a population of about 8 million and has fewer murders than Baltimore, population 600,000 per capita.
Further, I didn't see any business that looked like it might provide a viable income. Baltimore is a disaster.
Baltimore is also within the top ten cities of highest per capita of rats (rodents)

At 66 per 100K, St Louis had the highest murder rate, not that that should make so big a deal with Baltimore still coming in at #2 for cities of over 250K. Still, it’s always better to get facts and figures right.

There are various criteria to determine “most dangerous city”, but the USA Today report I found for 2017 data from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report had Baltimore at #3, not #1. Again, not a big difference. Still, it’s always good to get facts and figures right.

Let me guess.Amish and Morman gangs?

It is easy to see that the criminal elements in Baltimore are getting fat off the bacon Elijah Cummings has been bringing home to them for decades.

I do not have a passport, but I understand that our government warns American tourists to stay away from certain dangerous foreign cities or even countries.

I feel that our government should also warn foreign visitors to avoid certain American cities. (Americans, of course, already know what cities to avoid.)

What criminal elements, what is the bacon and how does Cummings get the bacon to the criminals?

By "bacon" I think the democrats who controlled crooked elections in large democrat strongholds meant that those democrats who were elected were obligated to grease the palms of those who put them there, through large federal monies obtained through democrat pork budgeting for their districts.

Trump's comment about Baltimore wouldn't have been so bad if he gave the tiniest damn about helping fix Baltimore.

But he only brought Baltimore up as a means to deflect from legitimate criticisms of his failures.

It's like how very many rightwingers bring up America's poor in general. They use our poor as a prop to make excuses for not helping non-Americans ... or even for abusing non-Americans. But then they push policies which make life harder for the poor ... while bloating the military and funneling our grandchildren's money to corporate stockholders.

Trump isn't interested in helping Americans (other than himself and his rich cronies). He doesn't care about the people of Baltimore. He barely even cares about the midwesterners who voted for him -- except when he realizes that the damage he has done to their livelihoods might cost him votes and so he needs to use billions of taxpayer dollars to try to buy back the votes. He's not going to get many votes from Baltimore, so Baltimore means squat to him -- except as a weapon to try to use to deflect from news about the abusive culture he is cultivating in agencies charged with dealing with immigrants.

You’re being elusive, to put it in a nice way, and simply not answering debate-legitimate questions. Without the necessary evidence, your claims are unfounded and dismissed with no need for me to debate any further as you’ve failed the burden of proof.

What difference does it make? St. Louis is also controlled by the Progressive Party now. They are not an official party in the state of Missouri (and never will be because they cannot get enough votes in the statewide governor election), so they have to run for office as Democrats, but they are registered with the Progressive Party Caucus. Therefore there is no difference between cities like Chicago, Detroit, Flint, St. Louis and Baltimore each city competes to out do the other with High Crime, Drugs and Murder.

Hmm...., Isn't the responsibility of the State to care for the people of that state. Indeed, we are a union of States. For the president to involve himself with the duties of the State of Maryland would violate the State's sovereignty.

He's taking credit for the low unemployment, including low unemployment among blacks. If his job as president has nothing to do with helping people in the various states and their cities, then what are his grounds for taking credit for how well these blacks are supposedly doing (when he sees fit to claim they're doing well and doesn't see a political need to trash them)?

I guess you'll have to ask the Black communities after the 2020 election. According to all news reports more Black Americans are working today than in the last 30 years or more. That also goes for all Americas in the United States.

I say we bring in more illegals to drive down wages and take what jobs are left. Then the criminals will have to move elsewhere. It is not profitable to rob the poor. Moving elsewhere is the way to solve problems where you are at.

Are you saying what difference does it make because they all have lousy murder rates so rank really doesn’t matter?

You linked what is happening in MO where registered Progressive Party Caucus run as Dems using the term “therefore” as if it is the same in Chicago, Detroit, Flint, St. Louis and Baltimore and thus causes high crime, drugs and murder in those cities. Clarity pleased.

I didn't realize that's it's the President's job to "fix Baltimore". Let the duly "elected" leadership do their job first. Then when they cry Uncle, the Feds can step in and save them.

Trump is taking credit for good things happening in the black community. Apparently he thinks it's his job as long as he can take credit whether earned or not ... and as long as he doesn't need, for political purposes, to trash the people he was trying to take credit for improving the lives of.

Oh, and his son-in-law Kushner is a slum lord in the Baltimore area.

Trump should have thought of that before he decided Cummings would be an easy target. Of course I welcome another spotlight shining on Trump and his criminal family. But Trump really should have thought about it.

Not in this case. It's ALL Balmer....a pig stye.
