It appears that according to the DOJ a President can get away with anything while he is in office unless Congress impeaches him.

Nixon was forced to resign because he covertly tried to obstruct the Watergate investigation. Trump overtly tried to obstruct the Mueller investigation without repercussion.

Trumps latest racist Tweets are just the latest racist comments he has made starting with Birtherism. Many conservatives say it doesn't matter if he's a racist so long as they like his policies.

Trump repeatedly makes stuff up that are untrue, states them as fact with no repurcussions.

Trump routinely denegrates people and groups of people.

Trump supporters seem not to care what he does as long as the economy is doing well ignoring the fact that the economy was doing quite well already when he took office.

Leaders of foreign countries do not respect Trump. He is considered and incompetent fool. (UK Ambassador) Even Putin thinks he is an incompetent fool. Why else would the support him and try to get him elected? Ask yourself what benefit does Putin get for trying to get Trump elected?

Trump continuously brags about himself and what a great President he is. People used to object to that kind of conceit. The UN audience laughed at him for such ridiculous claims.

People used to expect a President to be an admirable person. Someone children should look up to.

It seems conservatives have set a very low bar of conduct. I say it is a sad fact that people have such low expectations of their chosen leader.

The very definition of a "leader" is someone that we're meant to follow. When you vote for a President you are saying I wish more people would be like this person. Or at the very least, you're saying that you think this person is better than your alternatives.

Anybody who thought Trump was a better person than Hillary Clinton has a disgustingly broken judge of character.

Without even reading your post: YES.

The United ****ing States of America is a bloody SUPERPOWER. That's not something you can just wave around will-nilly to get your way...

I did at first, but what you meant to say is people who did then and do now because they have a learning disability (or a broken judge of character)...

It all started with J Danforth Quayle, continued with Bush Jr, and now Trump. (with an honorable mention to "I can see Russia from my house" Sarah Palin, who was almost VP

I can hardly wait to see who they pick next, as the bar is only two inches off the ground at this point.

It should.

But there’s Trump supporters.

There’s nothing he can say or do that they won’t defend or passively accept.

In the Trump supporter universe, up is down, left is right, bad is good and wrong is right... And the worst part is the opposition is looking not to be shaping up so well and it’s absolutely conceivable that he could win another term.

If he commits an actual crime, then it matters. Thats whats the DOJ said. Everything else is just politics. And obviously most people dont really care about personal behavior, otherwise Clinton, Obama, and Trump would not have been elected and remained popular with their respective factions.

Irrespective of the supposed scandals, both Clinton and Obama behaved with complete decorum while President. They did not denegrate people, they were respected internationally, the didn't brag about themselves incessantly, they did not make stuff up and pass it off as fact. It's a unbelievable stretch to compare their behavior to Trump's.

Make your case regarding other President's behavior that is comparable.

People didnt vote on character. They voted on policy and hatred of the other party. Both sides.

No, they said that he cannot be charged with a crime while in office unless it is part of an impeachment proceeding.

Yes, behavior matter.

I would expect our President to be a role model not the ignorant hicks I encounter who tell Americans to go back to their country.

I did not call it comparable. I said their behavior should have mattered, but it didnt.

Clinton raped and sexually harassed women, which implies cheating on his wife. He lied all the time.
Obama lied all the time and was a racist either in truth or for political convenience.

Being fake isnt really that much better than being overtly an asshole.

Clinton was never convicted of rape or sexual harrassment. He had a consensual adulterous encounter with a woman not his wife.

I challenge to name one instance of Obama lying. Even though people consider his claim that the ACA would cut the cost of insurance turned out to be wrong. He made the claim before the law was passed and the fact is the law was never implemented as written so I don't see it as a lie so much as an incorrect prediction.

Trump supporters DO look up to him. In as 2017 poll, 50% of evangelicals said that Trump was a good role model for young people. I haven't seen a more recent poll, but it appears that support for Trump in that sector has grown, so I expect the number to be at least as high. (The 50% of evangelicals who didn't consider him a good role model likely included a lot of Democrats -- because Democrats can be Christian too, in spite of rightwing memes.)

He is all that you said and worse, yet an alarming number of Trump supporters consider him a good role model.

Completely agree with all you've said. Time will tell of the outcome, it's just painful to watch this character in the white house campaign 24/7/365, it started with his first campaign and hasn't stopped a day since then.

D'accord.
Trump's been dropping the bar by inches for years and his supporters have been right along with him. They can't even remember anymore how a President should present himself and that bar is now a tripping hazard.
And I share your opinion of his opposition too. Bunch of incompetent boobs are liable to blow it again.
Liable, not certain. There's still hope that the Democrats will nominate a viable candidate and the voters will get it right.

No point. I answered your question. No, politicians behavior doesnt matter. Only winning elections matters.

*"I can see Russia from my house" Sarah Palin, who was almost VP*

Sarah Palin didn't say that, comedian Tina Fey did.

What else are you clueless about ??

People didnt vote on character. They voted on policy and hatred of the other party. Both sides.

That is total bs. I dislike trump immensely, I do not hate him. I disagree with the policies of the GOP it's why I generally vote democratic. Hate plays no part in my vote. Policies play a huge part and the policy of the GOP election after election is support the wealthy and corporate america, the so-called job creators. I tend to vote for people whose policies include the average working american making less than fifty thousand a year, which is most of america.

What newspapers she reads.

A referral is not an indictment, Mueller shirked his duty.

People used to expect politicians to be admirable people.

The behavior of members of the New Democratic Party and their supporters illustrates why that expectation has been erased.

The President has every right to respond in kind.

Mueller by doj rules could not comment. Although his statement about if we could say the president wasn't guilty of any crimes, we would, they didn't says a whole mouthful. So Mueller in my opinion said he committed crimes and now it's up to congress to do something about it.
