‘Shadowy’ dark money network behind left-wing causes exposed in new report | Fox News

An expansive network of “shadowy” dark money donors has grown to rival the influence of the conservative Koch brothers -- pumping millions into left-wing causes ranging from health care to climate change to abortion -- all while flying well under the radar of public scrutiny, according to an explosive new report obtained by Fox News.

The report, by conservative watchdog Capital Research Center, describes a band of nonprofits operating under the banner of Washington-based philanthropy company Arabella Advisors. Those “pop up groups” are housed in four Arabella-controlled “sister” nonprofits, according to the report: the New Venture Fund, Sixteen Thirty Fund, Hopewell Fund and Windward Fund.

“Together, these groups form an interlocking network of 'dark money' pop-up groups and other fiscally sponsored projects, all afloat in a half-billion-dollar ocean of cash,” the report says. “The real puppeteer, though, is Arabella Advisors, which has managed to largely conceal its role in coordinating so much of the professional Left’s infrastructure under a mask of ‘philanthropy.’”
The report says the "hydra-like" network brought in $1.6 billion between 2013 and 2017 "to advance the political policies desired by wealthy left-wing interests," as the network’s revenues grew by 392 percent. The four Arabella-controlled “sister” groups brought in $582 million in 2017 alone, according to the report. If the four groups were a single entity, it would make them the 22nd largest public charity in America, with higher revenues than the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Planned Parenthood or the Clinton Foundation.

“The size and scope of the Arabella network of funds demonstrates far more ‘dark money’ exists on the left side of the political spectrum than has been previously admitted,” the report says.

Politico identified 12 groups set up through the Sixteen Thirty Fund on health care alone. By serving as those groups’ “fiscal sponsor,” Sixteen Thirty Fund manages the money and aggregates their financial activities in its tax filings -- making it hard to work out how much money was spent by the different groups and where.
No matter what anyone else does, the Left has been the biggest complainer about money in politics. What about setting the example? Of course Soros has got his grubbing hands in this too.

The Dems in the house have done so with H.R. 1. Now ask why your puke McConnell won't pick it up for the senate. Oh we already know because in addition it requires the president and vice president to provide their tax returns for the last 10 years.

So you and the other cons would rather have DARK MONEY in play rather than your precious false god Trump give up his tax returns. You are the ones that are FOR dark money.

So you demand CLEAN bills from Republicans, but you yourselves send in a setup bill, that you know would pass. In fact you don't even want it too, but you can score cheap political points off this.

Playing by YOUR rules you set man. Having to do something every other president has done for the last 30 years is pretty clean. Too bad you cons WANT Dark Money just like the other hypocrite righties.

You think this bill was innocently written, when in reality politics was it's basis all along. The tax returns were thrown in to cause the bill NOT to pass. You know that, hopefully. Tax returns are not a requirement to run for or to be President. Article II of the Constitution sets forth the requirements.

Well maybe now that the left is taking advantage of citizens united maybe we'll see conservatives interested in getting anonymous money out of politics.

I doubt the donor class is happy with you calling attention to this.

Because you know the left learned this technique from the right, right?

The Left has been the group complaining, not the Right.

No one said they were required, just that every other president has done so honestly to be transparent. Not Trump. So this bill clears that up. Sorry you would rather have Dark Money than Trump's release his tax returns. So every con is bull****ing when they say they want Transparency. You don't. Thank you for admitting that con.

This idiotic attempt at a *gotcha* again?

People are required to obey prohibitory laws and are otherwise allowed to do as they please. Part of what "they please" may be trying to change the law so that everyone - including them, once the law is passed - must obey a new prohibitory law. Until and unless the law is changed they have no duty do continue to follow the law as it stands nor are they hypocrites to do so. To claim they are hypocrites is just another bit of soul-sucking dishonesty idiocy, most likely cooked up by Hannity or Limbaugh at some point and fed to their dutiful parroting minions.

I'm sure you'd be happy if the Democrats were as stupid as the people who love Hannity or Limbaugh's angle, but they're simply not going to shoot themselves in the feet on money-raising in order to make a show of taking the high-ground. If they did that, they would lose more in elections and they'd never be able to change the law the way they'd like. (Nevermind that every time they do take the high road, the right gets down under them on the low road and spears them in the nads).

Equally stupid is any pretense that Democrats should set an example (or are hypocrites for not doing it) for not voluntarily paying the government more in taxes than they owe. I'm sure you'd like it if they were that stupid as well, but as with the last argument, they aren't as stupid as the people who cooked up this idiotic attack and fed it to the masses. Congrats on managing to raise only one of the two idiotic attacks.

Oh it wasn't an idiotic attempt, I actually did get you. You and all the other liberals who commit hypocrisy on a galactic scale every minute of every day. Not one of the Dem candidates will refuse big money or not have some underhanded money scheme going. Hell AOC seems to already have a problem, and she's only been around about 5 minutes.
