Pelosi Struggles to Explain Why House Democrats Have Gotten So Little Done in First 100 Days

Pelosi Struggles to Explain Why Dems Got so Little Done in First 100 Days
15 April 2019 ~ By Madison Dibble
So far, House Democrats haven’t been able to do much of anything in terms of legislation. They’ve passed bills on campaign finance and gun control, but none of those have a prayer to pass in the Senate. They attempted to stop Trump’s national emergency declaration to fund a border wall but failed to rally the votes to overturn his veto. A huge percentage of the votes that pass don’t even impact the laws in the U.S. According to a report from Roll Call, nearly one in five votes that passed in the House since Democrats took office are non-binding resolutions, such as the watered-down resolution to condemn anti-Semitism.

~~~~~~
In less than 100 days, they have already surrendered on their ability to even pass a budget - their primary duty under the Constitution. Completely dysfunctional. “The 100 days of disappointment" is a catchy description, but this dysfunctionality is real.
Progressive Marxist Socialist Democrat (DSA) Leftists have positioned themselves as the “do nothing” party. They do nothing but oppose President Trump. There’s plenty to work on that would benefit the American People, but the DSA Democrats don’t work for the American People any more. They work for illegal immigrants, for the LGBT community, for liberal bosses like George Soros, Center For American Progress, et. al. They’ve eschewed the working class in favor of illegals and every other whack job group in existence.
What they have done is, loads of interviews with their propaganda branch led by Nadler, Schiff and Swalwell to keep people in a panic over Russia and Trump while having people worry about the President’s tax returns, health, travel, statements, views on media, anything to distract from the reality that the President is doing a great job.
I think this is a good thing.
But hey...those House Dems don't care. They just want to make sure Trump doesn't win in 2020.
just like the Republicans openly stated that their #1 goal was to make Obama a one term president.
It's no mystery why the Democratic controlled House isn't accomplishing more. The Senate is still controlled by the Republicans, and the White House is owned by Trump. Now, let's go back to when the Republicans were in charge of all three: Why did we not repeal and replace the ACA with something better that would cover everyone? Why was the touted border wall not built then? Why didn't they accomplish more of their agenda?
This is perfectly believable but the numbers don’t really mean anything without any comparisons of other periods, particular in similar circumstances. It’s very easy to make government procedure look slow and inefficient, in part because it often is, but it takes more to definitively establish one part especially worse.
I am curious whether you have other evidence that the current House has been especially bad in this context or you’re just assuming it is the case because that’s what the articles imply (but don’t explicitly state)?
It's as if you don't realize you've answered your own question. So, I'll explain to you how you answered your own question. You answered your own question by noting that the Senate will shoot down anything the House Dems might actually want to do, and in the rare case that doesn't happen, Trump will veto it anyway.
Pelosi gets little done?
How in hell is she supposed to "do anything" (that passes as law) without a vote in Senate and the law becoming effective only if signed by the PotUS?
Ho hum. More rabid posting by the Rabid Right.
What she is doing is being done within the investigative ability of the HofR and time will tell.
So stay tuned ... !
It takes three to tango in DC. The HofR, the Senate and a PotUS who signs the bill finally.
And what bill do you think Donald Dork would sign that emanated from a Dem HofR?
Huh? What kind ... ?
Obviously if the House of Representatives was working in a bipartisan faction and not resisting Trump, things would have run smoother and more legislature could have been passed.
Exactly.
For example, Trump's veto of the bill to get American forces out of Yemen. We remain fighting an undeclared war alongside the Saudis.
Yep. Go along with Trump, and things will go more smoothly. Resist, and you're called a "traitor."
Hail Trump!
That's the goal. Abide one's time until a Democrat is elected.
What sort of "legislature"? Yet another tax-reduction for the rich and super-rich? Uncle Sam brings the rate down to 1%?
Lemme see. The last time was back in January when Senate Replicants blocked a House-passed package to reopen the federal government for a second time in as many weeks.
I think we've had quite enough of "that kind" ...
Therefore nothing will get done and the Democrat majority in Congress will not be able to pass effective legislature and they will die on the vine. The 2020 elections will therefore put Democrats back into the minority. The animus and hatred emoted by the Progressive Marxist Socialist/DSA Democrats is a stench that people will smell for long time to come. That is why they will remain in the minority.
And if they don't go along with Trump, they will be called (by the Trumpeteers, that is) "Progressive Marxist Socialist/DSA"
But, they are being called that anyway.
But, you do have a point. As long as partisanship rules and the Republicans dominate Congress, little will be passed. If it is passed, Trump will veto it anyway, like he vetoed the bill to get the USA out of Yemen.
1. Apparently you choose to confuse a tax cut for everyone with only being for the "rich and super-rich".
2. As the "rich and super-rich" pay far more in taxes than those who are not, they certainly are as deserving if not more so of receiving tax breaks as those who do not pay as much.
LOL You mean like when the GOP controlled both Houses? All they did was pass a massive tax cut for the wealthy and balloon the deficit.
But they pay far less than they did before the tax cut and we are now looking at trillion $ deficits as far as the eye can see. That is what Republicans always do.
Yes they pay less. That is the point of a tax cut. And as they were the ones paying more in they are the ones who deserve the tax cut the most.
Either party complaining that the other party is inept is ironic at best.
To my knowledge, I am the only poster using those terms to identify Democrats and their party. It is derived from the fact that more than 70 active 'Democratic Party" Representatives in Congress are also card carrying members of the Democratic Socialists of America a fully funded subsidiary of the Communist Party of the United States of America.
Democratic Socialists of America (DSA)
Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) - Workings towards a better future for all.
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States. We believe that working people should run both the economy and society democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few.
End of September is not far off. October 1 is the new budget year for the Feds. Trump has presented his proposed budget.
Like most Presidential budget proposals it will be dead on arrival in Congress.
Congress (House and Senate) better find a way to get something done as far as the budget. The Continuing Resolution approach is just bad management. Shame on both parties.
How? By compromise and doing what is best for Americans.
Yes they pay less. That is the point of a tax cut. And as they were the ones paying more in they are the ones who deserve the tax cut the most.
Tax rates in America are determined by what the tax payer can afford to pay. They deserve to pay more.
