Trump and GOP make 'SOCIALISM' the bogeyman of 2020, as Democrats bristle

Trump and GOP make 'socialism' the bogeyman of 2020, as Democrats bristle | Politics | Dallas News
By Todd J. Gillman ~~ Democrats bristle, but Republicans have successfully framed the 2020 election as a struggle against socialism -- an ideology that not one Democratic contender says they advocate.... President Donald Trump set the table in his State of the Union speech when he declared that “America will never be a socialist country.” He has reiterated the warning over and over since then, most recently on Saturday, when he set off thunderous applause at a major conservative gathering by depicting a push toward “total domination” by government.
“Socialism is not about the environment. Socialism is not about justice. Socialism is about only one thing, it’s called power for the ruling class. Look at what’s happening in Venezuela,” he said at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference. “The future does not belong to those who believe in socialism.”
Democrats call the comparison ridiculous and inflammatory. Embracing a more expansive social safety net, they say, is fundamentally different from the autocratic socialism practiced in Cuba, Venezuela or the former Soviet Union.

Hmmm.... I guess Todd Gillman missed Bernie Sanders declaring himself a ‘Democratic Socialist?’ Sure, it’s a “boogeyman” that has claimed a millions of lives in the past 100 years and it's still happening in places like Venezuela... Democrats call the comparison ridiculous and inflammatory. Embracing a more expansive social safety net, they say, is fundamentally different from the autocratic socialism practiced in Cuba, Venezuela or the former Soviet Union. I must be slow as I don’t recognize a difference when I look at the issues Democrats pursue and support.
Instead of just “bristling”, I think that a good case can be made for making Progressive Marxist Socialist Democrats swing in the wind. Democrats/Socialist (mostly the same) are constantly trying to take our LIBERTYS away. Those who are politicians in DC have signed a piece of paper stating that they will defend the constitution. They need to be jailed as Seditionists and Traitors.

The Dems have no one to blame but their own left-wing nutjobs.

That (bolded above) is simply nonsense and far more dangerous than simply running for office and/or proposing loony leftist ideas as federal policy. Massive federal income redistribution policies are bad news, as is the ever growing use of crony capitalism, but it is up to the voters to make that call - not the creation of a police state to jail 'wrong thinkers'.

This is an immoral and disgusting way to think, Doc91478. One cannot defend the Constitution in either its letter or its spirit by calling for the equivalent of a Stalinist police state and imprisoning people for being enemies of the people, not on the basis of criminal action, but on the basis of mere thought and belief. Our country was founded on the idea of rule of law, and specifically not throwing people into prison simply for having views that most of us find wrongheaded, wicked or immoral. Socialism deserves to be criticized, combatted and defeated in the marketplace of ideas. Socialists do not need to be and should not be imprisoned merely for promoting their ideas.

Indeed. It will be interesting to see how the Democrat Party deals with it. I'll be watching.

You'll have a hard time convincing the cultists that a police state is bad. You could find support on both extremes - if they are the police.

The is precisely why we need something other than the party for a bigger federal government and the party for a huge federal government as viable federal government office ballot choices. As more voters identify as 'independent' and fewer with either current major party that may happen, yet I fear not fast enough.

I totally agree. Whereas the Progressive Marxist Socialist Democrat Left continues to assault the First and Second Amendments. Without the two America will succumb to the power hungry Left. Have you read about the PMSD Left attempts to nullify the Electoral College for the next presidential election. If not I suggest you do. See:

But as O’Neill explains, the founding fathers designed our electoral system to prevent any one faction or partisan group from obtaining too much power, and to make change very difficult. The Electoral College, for instance, forces presidential candidates to win votes in many different areas around the country, rather than just major cities.

So your against a police state but you support turning the US into a police state to jail people that think differently than you. Wow, what hypocrisy on your part.

I see little danger from states pooling their EC votes other than the obvious - a state handing 100% of their EC votes to a candidate that did not win the majority POTUS vote in their state. So long as solid red/blue states band together it changes nothing. I would prefer that all states apportion their EC votes along the lines of that state's popular vote much like Maine and Nebraska now do.

So you agree no police state....except against the left. Sounds like a police state to me. Just admit it's what you want.

Both the Congress and Senate persons individually take an oath of office.
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God".

Those who have violated their oath should be removed from office. If the law requires they be tried for their acts of commission/omission and violation of National Security so be it. This does not consist of affecting a police state. For example Ted Kennedy's communication with Russians was a violation for his oath. The actions of Peter Strzok and Andrew McCabe also violated their oath of office

What actions did they ACTUALLY take? Be specific.

Why should the states especially the most populated want to change the method of electing a president? It' a power grab. As an example New York State normally in the majority is Democrat based upon the populated cities of NYC, Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse, meanwhile towns and villages normally vote Republican.

Who will step up as the new McCarthy?

Who will be the first Republican to use pinko to attack an opponent?

Talk about a party of regression, trying take us back to the fifties.

Next they are going to try to sell us on coal fed steam engines for a new clean transportation option...

Federal election laws can be passed nationally per the Constitution.

~~~~~~
If there ever was a police state, it was created by Barack Hussein Obama. Trump came along and busted that all up. THat's why Brennan, Clapper, Comey, McCabe and Ohr are no longer there.
You need help. Most people's ODS has cleared up by now. And why his middle name? Does that score points on Stormfront or something?
Please explain the time Obama locked up all the conservatives for disagreeing with him. I'm fascinated to hear your version of reality.
I believe you will need massive amounts of mushrooms to be able to comprehend his version of reality...
Any party platform that targets rightist and leftist extremism has my vote, but only one? Nope.
The GOP has a lot of dirty laundry to deal with it before it can point the finger. Backing Trump and his innumerable blunders was a huge loss of faith.
