So you’re white and you believe in America first, i.e. a Trump supporter, you’re a “white nationalist.” Which means you’re now also a white supremacist.... And a racist and an Anti-Semite. How convenient. It’s evolved because it is assumed that it will be easier to make this pejorative stick to Trump.... See how that works? You’re likely to hear a lot of it over the next two years.

This morning another liberal was on the 24-7 news explaining why Pres Trump ought to quit talking about any of his winning subjects. He should only talk about subjects that are boring and losing subjects.
Good thing we have a president who refuses to let the LSM talking heads tell him what he can and cannot do. Libs are constantly trying to morph the English language into '1984’s newspeak'.
President Trump don’t play that. Just recently he started calling it the “Democrat Party,” instead of the modern “Democratic Party” that liberals replaced the old name with quietly several years ago.
Did they think morphing “Nationalist,” into “White Nationalist,” then quickly into “White Supremacist” doesn’t press some of our buttons, when we’re not laughing about it?

Maybe we should pay attention to this.
Trump said that among the illegal immigrants there were criminals; drug dealers, gang members and rapists. This statement is backed up by FBI data. He never said “Mexicans”. It was the media that changed his statement to seem to encompass ALL Mexicans.

Often but not always. In the present instance, it appears to be an elision in order to claim that anyone who claims to believe in nationalism must also believe in racial supremacy. You did not ask me but I would say white nationalism and white supremacy are of the same family but the left tosses it around as a pejorative ALL the time when many Americans call themselves nationalist and just happen to be white.

People of all color and ethnicity are American Nationalists. I am white, and I am an American Nationalist... exactly what Trump meant when he called himself a Nationalist.

OK, thanks for explaining. I wasn't sure if you were talking about the O/P or Trump calling himself a nationalist. Re: O/P, I already said they are both from the same family but they are both worlds away from American Nationalism. One can be an American Nationalist and be black, brown, white, yellow or red.

eta: If a white American calls themselves a Nationalist it does not mean they are a white supremacist, a white nationalist. It means they are an American Nationalist who just happens to have white skin.

Agreed on all points. A nationalist who is white should NOT call themselves a white nationalist. Word sequence matters in English. I have several friends who are female but if I call them my “girl friends” I have a feeling it won’t go over well with my wife. ;)

That means that of the entire NonHispanic white male population in the US (98,753,030 or approximately 30% of the entire US population demographic) 20 murders were committed that could be attributed to white nationalists.

Wouldn't "White Supremacist" be a harsher term than "White Nationalist"? A WS thinks white men are superior to all others. A WN just wants people to be separated by race, not claiming that they are superior. Now, someone can be both, but to me at least, they have different meanings.

if "it" is the word nationalism then the answer is YES, unequivocally because that term has a definition and IMO that definition isnt good at all. DO you disagree? do you think white nationalism is a good thing?

Actually I'm referring to the current Trump rhetoric, and the OP.

Nowhere was socialism mentioned in the OP or in my post, so I'll assume you're trying to deflect/strawman because you can't refute what I wrote. Stay on target.
 
If I can stick my two cents in here - adding "white" does change the meaning and I believe that is why it was done. When the President said "nationaist" I took it to mean (from the context) "nationalist" vs "internationalist". Rather than deal with that concept, his detractors made it a racial issue so as to allow for just one more attack.
