Democratic Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke’s senate campaign was flagged by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on Sunday for accepting “excessive” and “impermissible” donations.
The FEC notified O’Rourke that a preliminary review of his campaign’s July quarterly report showed contributions from one or more individuals with addresses outside of the United States. Donations were also made that “exceed the limit” determined by the federal government. O’Rourke has 45 days to respond.

Why do people care about how much money a politician gets in donations from anybody? I never understood the fascination. We all know they are bought and paid for so I dont understand why we dont let the monied donators spend their money and buy votes. Make a sport of it and see how much money you can get some idiot to give to you or your favorite politician.

O'Rourke is obviously perceived as a huge future national ticket threat to the Republican/Trumpkin right wing as evidenced by how they are amassing all their weapons to make sure he does not win.

You know, I think campaign finance laws are idiotic. They seem to be broken so frequently and unintentionally by candidates of both parties who do things that harm nobody. At the end of the day, they are just a "gotcha" regulatory burdens that help no one...the very definition of bad laws. I personally think that campaign donations should be treated like we treat Kickstarter funding campaigns, i.e., you pledge a any amount to your chosen candidate's campaign and pray they deliver, and do not just waste the money on paying hush money to prostitutes or the like.

Glad that we agree. When I see proof that Beto O'Rourke is actually violating campaign finance laws, I will be concerned. As of right now, the only thing I've seen that accuses O'Rourke are right-wing blogs and rags like The Daily Caller. Can you say the same about Trump? Will you speak out against Trump for doing the same thing?
