Exclusive: Nunes demands Justice Department records. Then he doesn't read them

House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes was livid.

For months, he had been demanding a fully uncensored version of a highly sensitive document from the Justice Department explaining how the Russia investigation began in 2016, but he wasn't getting it.
As the standoff escalated, Nunes began warning Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein -- the man in charge of special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation -- that he could face contempt of Congress, or even worse.

Facing the growing pressure, and outrage from President Donald Trump, Rosenstein finally relented in early April -- and granted Nunes and Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina access to the document with only minimal redactions to protect the name of a foreign country and agent, along with all members of the House Intelligence Committee.

But when the pair arrived at the Justice Department to review the electronic communication, officials were caught off-guard by his next move. Nunes -- sitting with a copy of the document in an unopened folder directly in front of him -- opted not to read it, according to four sources with knowledge of the situation.

I think Nunes had a good reason for not reading the documents - He was too busy not leading the Russian investigation the committee he chairs is running

It's an absolute disgrace what the GOP has done with these oversight committees.

I hope if/when the Democrats get control over some of them, they return the treatment.

However, I hope if/when the Democrats get control over the committees, they lead by example to show the country how these committees were designed to run for the good of the country itself. I doubt I'm not the only one sick to death of having a government filled with tantrum throwing toddlers on both sides of the aisle.

I hope you don't expect the Democrats to do that. You will be disappointed.

That's just classic, and a perfect example of why Nunes is such a disgrace as chairman of the HPSCI. This is the same guy who made waves with the "no official intelligence" BS about the document he didn't bother to read. You can't make up how irresponsible the guy is - nothing more than a partisan hack. Can't Trump find him a position in the WH where he belongs? Nunes and Rudy would make a good team!

I have been disappointed for decades by the behavior of our government, and their self-indulgent quests for personal power ignoring the needs of this country and its citizens.
